Barcelona reaches agreement with World Cup-winning coach

Barcelona is reportedly set to extend the contract with coach Hansi Flick, acknowledging the successes and positive impact he has brought to the club.

According to Radio Cat, Barcelona has reached a verbal agreement with coach Hansi Flick to extend his contract by one year. This information marks a crucial step in the effort to retain the German strategist, thereby strengthening the foundation for the Catalan club's long-term project.

Currently, Flick's contract with Barcelona runs until 2027, and he has played a central role in shaping the team's playing identity. Therefore, extending the contract with the coach born in 1965 has become one of the top priorities for the leadership, especially after a tense and challenging season, where stability in the coaching position is paramount.

The importance of this agreement has also been publicly confirmed by President Joan Laporta. In a recent statement, he said: “We want to extend Flick's contract until 2028. He is also willing to continue his commitment. We will announce the agreement soon, as he is very happy here.” These affirmations show clear consensus between both parties.

Notably, before the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou, Barcelona welcomed Flick's representative, Pini Zahavi. This meeting was seen as a turning point in the negotiation process, laying the groundwork for reaching the extension agreement.
