Here comes the third signing of the summer window! Manchester United is about to reach an agreement with PSG, with a 45 million iron midfielder landing at the Theater of Dreams.

Following the management overhaul, Manchester United has demonstrated uncommon efficiency during this summer transfer period. With Zirkzee and Yoro joining, the club has completed two heavyweight signings, besides selling Kamuwala and Greenwood. Yet United's transfer activities will not pause; they will capitalize on the momentum, and positive updates have surfaced again!

Earlier, French media footmercato's renowned journalist Santi Aouna reported that Manchester United is close to finalizing an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for Ugarte's transfer, and the player himself has agreed to join United. Additionally, Italian top reporter Romano confirmed that this deal has made breakthrough progress, noting that it will still take a few days to reach the final stage.

Frankly speaking, Manchester United's current transfer operations can be described as "going all out." During the eras of Woodward and his successor, United played the role of "rich but foolish" in the transfer market, with a long list of rumored targets but little concrete progress, often dragging deals until the last minute of the window without securing favorable prices, resulting in tough but unrewarding efforts.

Yet before July ends, United is nearing its third signing—such efficiency is truly astonishing. The smooth advancement of this deal also relies on the concerted efforts of three parties.

First, United has an urgent need. For the new season, Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes will be the starting midfielders, but neither excels in defense; their main contributions lie in attack. Bruno excels in final passes, Mainoo can hold the ball and control the tempo. Beside them, a defensive midfielder is required to provide cover, and Ugarte is undoubtedly the ideal target. This Uruguayan midfielder boasts top-tier mental attributes, a tough style, strong tackling ability, excellent mobility, and wide defensive coverage—a defender any technical player would dread facing.

Second, the player wants to leave. Ugarte is not favored by Enrique, having been almost completely sidelined towards the end of last season, so his desire to depart is strong. Although other clubs are interested in Ugarte, the player has informed PSG that United is his first choice, directly adding thrust to the transaction.

Moreover, PSG also hopes to complete the deal quickly. Enrique is eyeing Portuguese midfielder João Neves, with Benfica demanding 70 million; the two clubs are currently negotiating the price. PSG wants to sell Ugarte promptly to facilitate the João Neves deal.

Thus, the only obstacle is the transfer fee. PSG initially asked for 70 million, but United will certainly negotiate down. Since reporters indicate it will soon enter the final stage, this suggests United's price reduction efforts have succeeded. Ugarte's current market value is 45 million; the expected transfer fee will likely be around 50 million, possibly including浮动条款. If顺利, Ugarte might join United's US tour—let's wait and see!
