Coach Harry Kewell provides several observations regarding Vietnamese players moving abroad to play.
Speaking during Hanoi FC's training session on April 16th, Coach Harry Kewell offered a noteworthy perspective on opportunities for Vietnamese players to go abroad, especially to Europe for competition.
The Australian strategist asserted that Vietnamese players are fully capable of playing at the highest level: "I believe Vietnamese players are entirely capable of competing in Europe. However, success abroad depends not only on technical skills but also heavily on personal determination and adaptability."
According to Coach Kewell, the biggest barrier is not professional skill, but adapting to a new environment. He emphasized: “Moving to a different country with a distinct culture and football environment is an extremely difficult challenge. Even for Australian players like us, it is never easy.”
Drawing from the experience of a football system with many players exported to Europe, this former star believes the key factor lies in attitude and a progressive spirit: “With the right attitude and a progressive spirit, I believe they can overcome those barriers.”
Coach Harry Kewell's comments partly reflect the current reality of Vietnamese football, where many players are beginning to seek opportunities abroad but still face numerous challenges regarding professionalism, physicality, and integration ability.
Besides the topic of going abroad, the Australian strategist also did not forget to praise Vietnamese players after working with them:“I am truly impressed by the professionalism and eagerness to learn at Hanoi FC. Technically, Vietnamese players are very skillful and have good match-reading intelligence.”
