(*Note: Bolded teams advance)
In the Europa League, the quarter-final second-leg matches were lively, with most seeing four or more goals. Aston Villa was the most impressive team with a 4-0 victory over Bologna, thus advancing to the semi-finals with an aggregate score of 7-1 after two legs.
The sole exception was Nottingham Forest, which narrowly defeated former Champions League champion Porto thanks to Morgan Gibbs-White's sole goal, securing an overall victory after two legs with a 2-1 score.
The biggest surprise was the defeat of Real Betis, a team that featured in last season's Conference League final. Antony and his teammates were "exposed" at home against the Portuguese representative Sporting Braga, thus accepting elimination at the quarter-finals.
The two Europa League semi-final pairings were also confirmed, with Aston Villa facing Nottingham Forest, while Freiburg confronts Sporting Braga.
Another Premier League representative also reached the Conference League semi-finals, Crystal Palace. Under coach Oliver Glasner despite losing at home, they still made it to the final four strongest teams thanks to a 4-2 aggregate victory.
Here, the London club will face Shakhtar Donetsk, while Strasbourg meets Vallecano in the other semi-final.
