Vietnam U17 showcased dominant power by overwhelming Timor-Leste U17 10-0, moving nearer to securing a spot in the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 semifinals. Following the game, coach Cristiano Roland conveyed his contentment with the team's display and fighting mentality.
Right after the opening whistle, coach Cristiano Roland's squad quickly imposed their game control and soon scored the opening goal. In the 6th minute, Nguyen Luc executed a classy free kick placing the ball into the far corner, breaking the deadlock for Vietnam U17. The one-sided dominance continued as the red-shirted players maintained constant pressure. Dai Nhan and Ngoc Son successively scored in the 20th and 24th minutes before Nguyen Luc completed his double with another free-kick masterpiece closing the first half with a 4-0 score.
Entering the second half, Vietnam U17 did not slow their attacking pace. Notably, Van Duong shone brightly with multiple consecutive scoring plays, while Nguyen Luc completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute, sealing a resounding 10-0 victory for Vietnam U17.
After the match, coach Cristiano Roland could not hide his satisfaction with his students' performance. He emphasized: "Once again, I am very pleased with the team's performance. As I always say, in every match, the players strive to give their utmost and maintain focus."
This tactician also praised the players for executing well what was prepared in training: "We need to continue improving through each match. I am very happy that many practiced situations actually appeared in the game and were handled well by the players."
Despite the short preparation time, coach Roland affirmed that the team's cohesion is the key to success: "Of course, we have understood this squad since the previous qualifying round. The core framework remained almost unchanged, only adding a few new faces. We gathered in Hanoi for 10 days to bond the team. Since they are familiar with each other, the players clearly understand their roles."
He also admitted there are still minor mistakes, but the whole team is progressing daily: "Sometimes players still forget instructions, but after training and competing, confidence has returned. Once again, I am very proud of my students."
With this win, Vietnam U17 has 6 absolute points after two matches, also possessing a superior goal difference of +14. In the final match, coach Cristiano Roland's team will face host Indonesia U17 on April 19 in a decisive match for the top spot in Group A as well as the semifinal ticket.
