The reason VFF chose coach Hoang Van Phuc to replace Mr. Mai Duc Chung revealed

Coaching experience and understanding of Vietnamese football are the primary reasons for VFF's decision to appoint Mr. Hoang Van Phuc as the new head coach of the Vietnamese women's football team.

VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu shared: "The first criterion is meeting professional requirements. Coach Hoang Van Phuc has experience and holds a PRO license. Coach Mai Duc Chung himself is very experienced and skilled, so AFC agreed (to let him lead without a PRO license), but for other coaches, a PRO license is required.

Men's football differs from women's football. A domestic coach leading the men's national team faces significant pressure and media scrutiny, thus a foreign coach is more suitable. Domestic coaches for men's football are also excellent, but foreign coaches tend to be more adaptable.

For the women's team, foreign coaches are also good, but they need to work in Vietnam to understand Vietnamese women's football, making their work easier. Understanding Vietnamese football is crucial when coaching the women's team.

Coach Hoang Van Phuc is seasoned with experience, having gone through many competitions. Working in women's football always has aspects more challenging than men's football. Mr. Phuc has experience, both in coaching and management. He is also a responsible person. Recently, VFF assigned Mr. Phuc as an assistant to Coach Mai Duc Chung to better grasp the women's team's squad.

Through evaluation, the National Coaching Council recognized Mr. Phuc's work ethic and ability to harness collective strength. VFF believes no one is more suitable for the women's team head coach position than Mr. Phuc. We confidently place our trust in Coach Hoang Van Phuc.

At the upcoming ASIAD, VFF sets the goal for players to gain experience. The women's team is in a transitional period, so the aim is to learn in Asia, with the target of advancing as far as possible. Next year, the women's team will participate in SEA Games 34 and the AFF Cup.

In the previous SEA Games, although the Vietnamese team did not win the gold medal, they were champions in the hearts of fans. For the next tournament, we aim to reach the final and strive for victory. Of course, nothing can be predicted beforehand.

At the AFF Cup, with Australia participating, the women's team also wants to reach the final, or at least secure a bronze medal. Coach Hoang Van Phuc will face great pressure, both taking over the team from legend Mai Duc Chung and managing a squad in transition. VFF will provide maximum support to Mr. Hoang Van Phuc.

National teams, from men's, women's to U.23, VFF always provides the best in terms of finance, services, and technical support. VFF has a technical department, including data analysis. The Vietnamese women's team receives support like the men's team, with no difference.

VFF always provides optimal conditions for national teams. Notably, this year, the national women's football championship has shifted from a centralized format to a League format with home-away matches to upgrade the tournament, helping Coach Hoang Van Phuc strengthen the Vietnamese women's national team.

VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu

"Over the years, the Vietnamese women's national team has affirmed its position in Southeast Asia and expanded to the continent. To continue maintaining and developing, squad building and the role of the head coach are crucial.

After a swift and careful process, VFF selected Coach Hoang Van Phuc to assume the position of head coach of the Vietnamese women's national team from May 1.

VFF evaluates the sense of responsibility, dedication, and understanding of Vietnamese football of Mr. Hoang Van Phuc. We hope he will enhance the team's professional quality.

The Vietnamese women's national team is approaching ASIAD 20 and SEA Games 34, requiring extensive preparation and determination from the entire team. VFF will ensure facilities and training plans for players and the coaching staff to aim for success. We wish the team to excellently achieve their set goals.
