Supercomputer predicts surprising outcome for Chelsea vs MU match

Opta's supercomputer has issued assessments and forecasts regarding the clash between Chelsea and Man Utd in Premier League round 33.

Following a defeat at Old Trafford against Leeds, Man Utd will face an even tougher challenge when they meet Chelsea in the 33rd round of the Premier League.

Traveling to London amid inconsistent form, the "Red Devils" are rated lower than their opponent in terms of winning chances. According to predictions from the supercomputer Opta, Chelsea holds the advantage with 43.7% chance of triumph at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Man Utd only has 29.5% probability of winning after 10,000 simulations, while the scenario of a draw is estimated at 26.8%.

Considering recent form and head-to-head records, Chelsea under manager Liam Rosenior shows a slight edge over the Manchester side.

According to Opta statistics, the fixture between Chelsea and Man Utd is one of the most likely to end in a draw in Premier League history, with a total of 27 draws, more than any other matchup.

Notably, most of these draws involved goals, as only 7 out of 27 ended without any scoring, making this the fixture with the most score-draws in the league, with 20 instances.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea demonstrates stability by losing only once in their last 12 Premier League meetings with Man Utd, with 6 wins and 5 draws. They are also approaching a memorable milestone if they can secure three consecutive home wins against the "Red Devils," something not achieved since April 2006.

On the other hand, Man Utd hopes to complete a double victory over Chelsea in the same season, after winning 2-1 in the first leg. Historically, they have only accomplished this once, in the 2019/20 season.

In the upcoming match, Man Utd faces personnel issues as two key center-backs, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez, are absent due to suspension.

Additionally, the inefficiency of the attack is troubling manager Michael Carrick. In the match against Leeds, the "Red Devils" forwards attempted 20 shots but failed to score. The sole goal came from a familiar scenario, with Bruno Fernandes delivering a cross for Casemiro to head home. This is clearly an area Man Utd must improve for a positive result, especially since Chelsea's defense is not rated too highly.
