Due to lack of field availability, Vietnam U17 had to train from 14:00.

The Vietnam U17 team conducted a training session at Gelora Tambaksari Stadium this afternoon (April 18) in preparation for their encounter with Indonesia U17 in the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship. Cristiano Roland's squad practiced amidst the intense heat of Surabaya.

The Vietnam U17 team began their training session around 14:00. At that time, the outdoor temperature reached 34 degrees Celsius.

The Vietnam U17 coaching staff also prepared ample drinking water to ensure the players maintained optimal physical condition. Surabaya is a city with high temperatures due to its coastal location in the north.

Nevertheless, the Vietnam U17 players completed the training session diligently.

Vietnam U17 trained from 14:00, when the outdoor temperature was 34 degrees Celsius.

Host Indonesia U17, the opponent in tomorrow's match at 19:30 on April 19 in the final group stage fixture, is not an overly formidable challenge, especially since Vietnam U17 only requires a draw after two victories in their previous group stage matches of the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship.

The training session took place from 14:00 under rather sweltering weather conditions. This seems somewhat contradictory and impractical given that the match against Indonesia will be held in the evening at 19:30.

Indonesian media raised questions about whether Vietnam U17's preparation methods are truly ideal. The discrepancy between training time and match time could affect the players' rhythm and adaptability.

However, Cristiano Roland stated that the team had limited options. Training during daytime was due to constraints regarding field availability.

"We have to adapt. Today we don't have a field for evening training, so we must train at this time," coach Cristiano Roland acknowledged.

He mentioned that the team had trained later the previous day, but the situation changed before the match against Indonesia.

"Yesterday we trained later, but today there is no field available for evening training," he added.

Despite training under the heat, Roland emphasized that the coaching staff's top priority is maintaining the players' best physical condition.

According to him, training must still proceed, but adjustments are needed to suit the weather conditions.

"The players still need to train. Therefore, we must preserve their physical condition in very hot weather, while the match takes place at 19:30 tomorrow evening."

He also admitted that adapting to such conditions is part of the tournament.

"Sometimes we have to adapt to situations like this."
