The AFC recently published the women's club ranking for the 2025/26 season, where Vietnamese women's football secured the 6th position in Asia with 68.522 points.
This ranking is important for the AFC to determine participation slots and seedings for the qualifying and group stages of Asian women's club competitions in the 2027/28 season.
According to the AFC announcement, Vietnam's women's football score is composed of two factors: club performance and national team performance. Specifically, club performance contributed 44.750 points, equivalent to 70%, while the women's national team added 23.772 points, accounting for 30%.

Being in the top 6 reflects the significant progress of Vietnamese women's football in continental competitions in recent years. The biggest highlight comes from Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club with its impressive journey in the AFC Women's Champions League 2025/26.
The Vietnamese representative performed outstandingly against many strong Asian opponents, thereby helping Vietnamese women's football significantly improve its position on the AFC rankings.
Topping the ranking is Australia. This achievement is largely contributed by Melbourne City FC, as the Australian team reached the semifinals of the AFC Women's Champions League 2025/26 after a perfect group stage with 17 goals scored and none conceded.
Japan ranks second thanks to the runner-up finish of Tokyo Verdy Beleza, while South Korea stands third with the mark of Suwon FC Women.
Meanwhile, North Korea is the team with the strongest rise on the ranking. The AFC Women's Champions League title of Naegohyang Women's FC lifted North Korean women's football to the 5th position in Asia.
According to the AFC, the ranking is calculated based on the performance of clubs in the AFC Women's Champions League 2025/26 combined with the national team scores from the FIFA Women's World Ranking published on April 21, 2026.
Being in the top group in Asia is expected to give Vietnamese women's clubs additional advantages in seedings and opportunities to advance further in continental tournaments in the future.
