U19 Vietnam's first training session in Indonesia

The U19 Vietnam team had its initial training session in Medan, Indonesia, on the afternoon of May 29, completing final preparations before embarking on the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship campaign.

The entire squad displayed a serious and focused training spirit, successfully completing the planned workload. The players maintained stable physical fitness while showing enthusiasm and high determination in their preparation for the tournament.

The field conditions and facilities at Medan were assessed to adequately meet professional requirements, providing favorable conditions for the team to carry out its preparation plan in the remaining days before the opening match.

The coaching staff also emphasized suitable intensity exercises to help the players overcome jet lag from the long flight and quickly regain optimal match fitness.

In the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship, U19 Vietnam is placed in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Myanmar, and Timor Leste. Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's side will face Timor Leste on June 1, Myanmar on June 4, and Indonesia on June 7.

Thai Son Bac claims top spot in the national futsal league

The fifth round of the 2026 HDBank National Futsal Championship continued at Cau Giay Indoor Stadium (Hanoi). Sahako defeated Hanoi 4-1, while Thai Son Bac edged past Ho Chi Minh City Youth 1-0 to temporarily rise to the top of the standings.

Ho Chi Minh City Youth caused significant difficulties for their opponents with a tight and disciplined defensive style. They not only limited Thai Son Bac's attacking power but also organized several dangerous counterattacks.

In the second half, the game saw little change as Thai Son Bac continued to dominate possession but struggled to break through the solid defense. Notably, goalkeeper Quoc Giau had an outstanding performance with a series of crucial saves, keeping Ho Chi Minh City Youth's hopes of getting points alive until the final minutes.

However, Thai Son Bac managed to hold on to their slender advantage to secure a 1-0 victory. With 13 points after five matches, the team has temporarily climbed to the top of the league table.

VFF holds competency assessment exam for A-level coaching course

On May 26 and 27, at Phu Tho training ground (Ho Chi Minh City), the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) organized a competency assessment exam for candidates applying for the 2026 AFC/VFF A-level coaching course in the southern region.

A total of 12 coaches from clubs and football centers in the southern region participated in the assessment round.

The AFC/VFF A coaching certificate is a high-level professional training qualification, requiring candidates to have a solid foundation of expertise, tactical thinking, and relatively balanced practical experience. The competency assessment is designed to determine whether applicants meet the minimum requirements to effectively absorb and complete the training program.

The assessment was directly conducted by instructors including Mr. Koshida Takeshi, an AFC-accredited instructor qualified to organize the Pro coaching course, and Mr. Le Huynh Duc, a member of the National Coaches Council and a VFF instructor.
