The Manchester United delegation in Italy, besides discussing the transfer of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, also made contact concerning possible exits of players like Ugarte and Zirkzee. Meanwhile, they finalized the permanent move for Danish center-forward Rasmus Højlund, with the club under obligation to sign him permanently.

Per the loan contract, once Napoli secure a Champions League spot, they are required to pay €44 million to buy out Højlund. Antonio Conte, before leaving, led Napoli to a runner-up finish in Serie A, triggering the permanent transfer clause. Napoli kept their promise and have already paid the transfer fee to Manchester United.
According to Manchester United's third-quarter financial report, the club received £31.4 million (approximately €36 million) from Napoli, with the remaining amount expected to come from add-ons. Højlund has already bid farewell to United on social media and begun his career as a full Napoli player.
In the recently concluded season, Højlund made 32 appearances for Napoli, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed: "The total fee including loan fee and transfer fee is €50 million, and United save his wages. At Napoli, Højlund's contract includes a release clause of €85 million (£74 million), effective from the summer of 2027."
British media report that after selling Højlund, Manchester United's summer transfer budget has been raised to £250 million. BBC's Simon Stone disclosed that the club also repaid £110 million of its revolving credit facility, thereby increasing the funds available for signings.
If players like Rashford, André Onana, and Ugarte can be sold in the coming period, the budget could increase further, possibly exceeding the £300 million mark.

Romano also revealed another consequence of Højlund's permanent departure: Manchester United forward Benjamin Šeško will wear the number 9 shirt next season. The Slovenian striker could have chosen this number last summer, much like Cunha took Rashford's number 10, but out of respect, he decided to wear the number 30 first, as Højlund's exit was not yet fully confirmed.
Šeško's idol, Zlatan Ibrahimović, previously wore the number 9 shirt for Manchester United. Ibra took the number from Martial, which caused discontent from the French talent. Perhaps Šeško has learned from the Swedish legend's experience.
"Growing up, Zlatan (Ibrahimović) has always been my role model," Šeško said. "I've watched his videos—almost everything online about him, because he's incredible, you all know. But our personalities are different. I enjoy watching him play and appreciate the way he enjoys football; only then is football truly fun."
Šeško, who scored 11 Premier League goals this season, is aware he will face tougher challenges. Højlund encountered great difficulties after switching from the number 11 to the number 9, ultimately failing and leaving.
Šeško said: "The biggest challenge here is adapting to the pace of the league. The Premier League is the best league, with extremely fast game tempo; every match forces me to think faster and act faster. I like the pressure. Pressure means I'm doing something meaningful. As a Manchester United striker, people naturally expect me to score goals, and that's why I came here—to score for United and help the team win titles."

Another key Manchester United player may also change his shirt number, which could signal another transfer deal. This season's backup goalkeeper, Altay Bayındır, is believed to be heading back to Turkey; Senna Lammers will then take the number 1 jersey. This season, the 23-year-old goalkeeper wore the number 31.
