Manchester United has reached a personal agreement with M. Fernandes, aiming for a £50 million deal! Carrick's favorite could become a target.

British sources report that Manchester United has struck a personal agreement with West Ham's Portuguese midfielder Matheus Fernandes, with the player choosing Old Trafford ahead of PSG and Arsenal, both of whom reached the Champions League final! This follows United's standard summer procedure: confirming the player's interest first, then engaging in fee discussions with the selling club. West Ham is expected to demand £60 million for Fernandes, and while there are several suitors, the Red Devils are confident they can lower the price.

West Ham paid £42 million to sign Fernandes from Southampton last year, with the 'Saints' entitled to a 15% sell-on clause. Therefore, United knows the price cannot be too low, as the 'Hammers' aim to improve their financial figures through sales rather than incurring losses.

Including the share owed to Southampton, West Ham needs to sell Fernandes for at least £48 million to avoid a loss. Hence, United has set a target price of £50 million. Following the principle of a mid-range negotiated settlement, many believe £55 million is a realistic figure.

Fernandes was not included in Portugal's World Cup squad, which works in favor of his transfer. According to 'iPaper', Manchester United is likely to submit a bid for Fernandes to West Ham in the coming weeks. The club sees him as capable of competing with Kobbie Mainoo for the defensive midfield role, as well as potentially succeeding his idol and fellow Sporting Lisbon graduate Bruno Fernandes as the attacking midfielder in the future.

If they manage to offload Ugarte, United might sign a third new midfielder. The 25-year-old Uruguayan international is a target for Turkish champions Galatasaray, with United hoping to receive €28 million in transfer fees. Galatasaray is offering Ugarte a weekly wage of €120,000, only slightly less than his current United salary, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Once Ugarte is sold, Hayden Hackney, a former player under Carrick at Middlesbrough, is considered a potential target for United. Last summer, Middlesbrough considered selling him for £20 million, a price that fits United's lowest-tier midfield signing criteria.

Hackney rejected Ipswich at that time, stating his intention to help Middlesbrough push for another Premier League promotion. Unfortunately, last Sunday he was left in tears at Wembley after Boro suffered a stoppage-time defeat to Hull City in the so-called 'gifted' playoff final. Many believe that was the last time the 23-year-old English midfielder will wear a Middlesbrough shirt.

Now, Hackney's contract has just 12 months remaining. Middlesbrough is well aware that their negotiating position is weaker than last summer's £20 million valuation. Carrick has previously praised Hackney's attitude, noting his ability to step up and play a crucial role in key moments.

According to 'The Athletic', Hackney, who contributed to 14 goals this season, is open to joining Manchester United and would be very willing to play for Carrick again. However, United views him only as a third-tier option in their midfield recruitment plan, so there is no urgency to move forward.

'The Sun' reports that with the arrival of Ederson, United's interest in Cameroon international Carlos Baleba has cooled, especially considering his performances this season and the asking price. Since last summer, United and Brighton's management have maintained frequent communication, but now the focus may shift to other targets. Brighton's asking price last summer was £100 million, and their owner Tony Bloom is known for his tough negotiating style.
