The 2025/26 V.League season is seeing one of the most thrilling relegation fights ever. Following matchday 25, SHB Đà Nẵng, Becamex TP.HCM, and PVF-CAND each have 21 points, keeping the outcome uncertain before the last round.
According to the league regulations, the last-placed team (14th) will be directly relegated, while the 13th-placed team will enter a playoff match for a spot in next season's V.League against a representative from the First Division. This means all three teams still face the threat of relegation just before the decisive round.
This breathless situation was created after round 25. PVF-CAND defeated Hải Phòng 3-1 to keep their survival hopes alive, while Becamex TP.HCM lost to CAHN 1-2 and SHB Đà Nẵng were held to a 0-0 draw by Hà Tĩnh.
Currently, SHB Đà Nẵng are 12th with a goal difference of -10, Becamex TP.HCM are 13th with -14, and PVF-CAND sit at the bottom with -20.
Three matches directly affecting the relegation race will take place simultaneously at 6:00 PM on June 7:
The results of 270 minutes across three stadiums will determine which team stays up, which team enters the playoff, and which team will be relegated to the First Division next season.
This is the simplest scenario. If SHB Đà Nẵng beat Thanh Hóa, the Han River team will have 24 points and be certain to stay up regardless of the other two matches. Similarly, if Becamex TP.HCM defeat HAGL, they will almost certainly secure the playoff spot.
If one of the two teams wins while PVF-CAND fails to beat SLNA, coach Mauro Jeronimo's team will be officially relegated.
This is almost a mandatory condition for PVF-CAND. If they beat SLNA, PVF-CAND will have 24 points. In that case, they need at least one of their two rivals, SHB Đà Nẵng or Becamex TP.HCM, to fail to win.
If Becamex TP.HCM draw or lose to HAGL while PVF-CAND beat SLNA, the police team can completely overtake them to claim the playoff spot. This is seen as the scenario PVF-CAND are aiming for after their important win over Hải Phòng in round 25.
If SHB Đà Nẵng, Becamex TP.HCM, and PVF-CAND all draw in the final round, they will each have 22 points. In case all three lose, the points remain unchanged at 21.
Then, tiebreakers will play a decisive role. With their current advantage in goal difference, SHB Đà Nẵng would officially stay up, Becamex TP.HCM would enter the playoff, and PVF-CAND would be directly relegated.
The final round of the V.League 2025/26 promises unpredictable developments as the gap between survival, playoff spot, and relegation will be decided by just a few moments on the pitch.
For the first time in many years, three teams enter the final round with equal points. This makes this year's relegation battle one of the most thrilling competitions in V.League history. On June 7, the fate of SHB Đà Nẵng, Becamex TP.HCM, and PVF-CAND will be officially decided.
