French Open major upset! The third seed falls, Swiatek eliminated, only three of the top ten remain, and all Chinese players are out.

As of June 1 Beijing time, the French Open saw further upsets overnight. Four-time Roland Garros winner Swiatek was swept 0-2 by Kostyuk. Meanwhile, China's Wang Xiyu suffered a 0-2 defeat to Cirstea, meaning zero Chinese players remain in the draw. Consequently, just three top-ten players survive: Sabalenka, Andreeva, and Svitolina!

This year's women's singles at the French Open has been a hotbed of surprises, with high seeds falling one after another. Swiatek, possessing superb clay-court skills and four previous titles here, became a top favorite after Gauff's exit. In this round, she faced the in-form Kostyuk for a quarterfinal berth. The first set was a tightly contested battle, with the score locked until 5-5, when Kostyuk held and broke to take it 7-5. In the second set, Swiatek started strong by breaking serve, but then her form collapsed dramatically, losing six straight games to fall 1-6, ultimately losing 0-2 in a stunning upset. It must be said the match was bizarre; she seemed helpless and appeared to have declined in strength. As a result, Swiatek has missed out on a clay-court title for two consecutive years!

Chinese player Wang Xiyu faced the 18th seed Sorana Cirstea, a 36-year-old veteran who has been in blistering form at this French Open. Wang faced a tough challenge. In the first set, Wang started slowly, falling behind 1-5 and into a desperate position. Though she fought back stubbornly to 3-5, she eventually lost 3-6. In the second set, Wang was down 2-5 and on the brink of elimination, but she again rallied fiercely, winning four consecutive games to take a 6-5 lead and force a tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Cirstea proved superior, winning 7-4 to take the match 2-0. It must be said that Cirstea is incredibly impressive; at an age when many players retire, she is performing at her peak—truly a veteran who still has plenty left in the tank!

Currently, four quarterfinalists have been determined in the women's singles: Cirstea, Andreeva, Svitolina, and Kostyuk. China's singles players have all been eliminated, but Wang Xiyu achieved her career-best Grand Slam result, which is quite commendable!
