U19 Indonesia's big win over U19 Myanmar puts pressure on U19 Vietnam

The Indonesian U19 team kicked off their campaign at the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship in style, beating U19 Myanmar 3-0 and solidifying their position as a leading candidate for a place in the semifinals.

From the opening minutes, the hosts pushed forward aggressively and constantly applied pressure on the opponent's half. In the 5th minute, a strong and troublesome throw-in from Indonesia forced the U19 Myanmar goalkeeper to punch the ball away in a difficult save.

Despite controlling the game better, Indonesia had to wait until the 39th minute to break the deadlock. Utilizing his physical strength and impressive holding ability, Arkhan Kaka got past the Myanmar defender before executing a skillful lob over goalkeeper Sai Khant Min Nyo to make it 1-0. Earlier in the 35th minute, the red-shirted team had also hit the post with a dangerous header.

In the second half, Myanmar pushed forward in search of an equalizer. The team had a few notable chances, including a powerful long-range shot in the 67th minute, but failed to beat the Indonesian goalkeeper.

While Myanmar was still struggling to find a way through the opponent's defense, individual errors proved costly. In the 78th minute, center-back Thet Paing Soe made a careless back pass. Goalkeeper Sai Khant Min Nyo then cleared poorly, hitting forward Prasetyo. The ball rebounded into a favorable position, allowing the Indonesian striker to easily double the lead to 2-0.

In the 87th minute, Indonesia sealed the match with a third goal. Once again, Myanmar's defense made a mistake in coordination. Azkairawan intercepted the ball and set up Prasetyo to complete his brace, securing a 3-0 victory for the hosts.

This result gives U19 Indonesia a favorable start and puts significant pressure on U19 Vietnam in the race for top spot in the group. In this year's ASEAN U19 Championship, only the three group winners and the best runner-up will advance to the semifinals. Therefore, goal difference is considered a particularly important factor.
