U19 Indonesia is regarded as a strong side in the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship and will be a leading opponent for U19 Vietnam in the group stage.
The U19 Indonesia team has made a good start in the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship following a 3-0 victory over U19 Myanmar in the opening match of Group A on June 1 at the North Sumatra Stadium, Deli Serdang. The host's three goals were scored by Arkhan Kaka in the 38th minute and a brace from Dimas Adi in the 78th and 87th minutes.
Despite the decisive victory, coach Nova Arianto is not entirely satisfied with his players' performance. The 48-year-old manager believes some players did not execute tactical requirements well, especially movement when the team had possession and bursts to create space. However, he still praised the team's fighting spirit and sees the match against Myanmar as a foundation to further refine the squad.
In the next match against U19 Timor Leste on June 4, Nova Arianto stated he will rotate the lineup. U19 Indonesia will then face U19 Vietnam on June 7.
Before the tournament, Nova Arianto finalized a 23-player squad after a training camp in Yogyakarta. Notably, the lineup includes six players currently playing abroad: Eizar Jacob (Sydney FC, Australia), Mathew Baker (Melbourne City, Australia), Timothy Baker (Western United, Australia), Zinadein A. (Sydney FC, Australia), Amar Brkic (SV Darmstadt 1898, Germany), and Welber Jardim (Sao Paulo FC, Brazil).

Welber Jardim is playing for a Brazilian club.
Coach Nova assesses that the group of overseas-born players have relatively equal quality to domestic players, while also adding depth to positions lacking personnel. Among them, Zinadein Aulia impressed him the most due to his tactical vision and ability to organize play.
Meanwhile, Welber Jardim was part of the U19 Indonesia team that won the 2024 ASEAN U19 Championship under coach Indra Sjafri. At that time, he played consistently from the group stage to the final.

Zinadein and Eizar are playing for the youth team of Sydney FC (Australia).
Welber started in the 1-0 win over Malaysia in the semi-final as well as the final victory over Thailand by the same score of 1-0.
The midfielder from the Sao Paulo U20 team also possesses notable experience. He previously attended the 2023 U17 World Cup under coach Bima Sakti and later was part of the U20 Indonesia team that participated in the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup.
Welber Jardim (19 years old) is the son of former Brazilian footballer Elisangelo Jardim de Jesus, who played for clubs Persekaba Badung and Persiba Balikpapan in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Evandra Florasta, a player who has become Nova Arianto's favorite pupil since the U16 Indonesia team.

Evandra Florasta is a noteworthy figure of U19 Indonesia.
The 17-year-old midfielder has been consistently called up to national youth teams. He participated in the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup, where Indonesia reached the quarter-finals, before continuing to attend the 2025 U17 World Cup.
Notably, Evandra was also promoted to the U20 Indonesia team in the same year and given a trial opportunity by coach Indra Sjafri. He later made his debut at the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup.
Thanks to playing at various levels, Evandra is considered to have superior experience compared to many of his peers. This will be a key factor in helping him support U19 Indonesia at this year's tournament.
In attack, the most notable name for U19 Indonesia is Reno Salampessy. The 18-year-old striker has shown great potential while playing for Persipura Jayapura.

Reno Salampessy is playing for club Persipura Jayapura.
