A football tournament for Vietnamese international students across South Korea, named after coach Kim Sang Sik, was recently held in Busan.

A football tournament for Vietnamese international students across South Korea named after coach Kim Sang Sik was just held in Busan, drawing significant attention from the Vietnamese community studying and living in the land of kimchi. The event was not only a sports playground but also an opportunity for young people to meet, socialize, and strengthen connections through their passion for football.

The tournament called “KSS Cup 2026 - Football Tournament to Support Vietnamese International Students in South Korea with MFC” was held on May 30th at Gangseo Sports Park. With the participation fee entirely waived, the tournament enabled a large number of students to join. About 300 Vietnamese international students from various regions across South Korea gathered in Busan, contributing to a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.

The finals brought together 16 teams, of which the Busan area alone contributed 11 representatives. The matches were exciting, featuring determination and dedication. After many intense competitions, the two best teams—Sasang FC from Busan and PASSION FC from Keimyung University—secured their spots in the final match.

The final match was balanced, ending in a 1-1 draw after regular time. Entering a tense penalty shootout, PASSION FC showed better composure to secure victory, thereby claiming the tournament championship. The title was a well-deserved reward for the team’s efforts and consistent performance throughout the competition.

In addition to the team title, the tournament also recognized outstanding individuals. Goalkeeper Nguyễn Ngọc Linh of PASSION FC was awarded the title of Best Player of the tournament. The person who directly selected and presented the award to him was Vietnam national team head coach Kim Sang Sik, the figure who inspired this year's event.

The appearance of Coach Kim Sang Sik became a special highlight. Widely loved by Vietnamese fans and called a “football hero,” he took the time to come to the venue to watch the matches, encourage the players, and attend the awards ceremony. Sharing with the international students, the Korean strategist said he was delighted to accompany the Vietnamese community in South Korea and expressed his impression of the passionate and united spirit shown by all participating teams.
