Thailand secured a decisive 9-0 victory in their opening match of the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship.

Thailand's U19 side kicked off their Group B campaign in the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship with a stunning 9-0 win over Brunei U19 on the afternoon of June 2. The victory allowed the Thai team to momentarily lead the group table due to their overwhelming goal differential.

Right from the opening whistle, Thailand U19 quickly demonstrated their class superiority. Just seven minutes into the match, Itthimon Thipnet opened the scoring for his side by capitalizing on a defensive error from Brunei U19 to finish accurately, giving Thailand an early lead.

The early goal boosted the confidence of Thailand U19's players under their coaching staff. In the 24th minute, Phattharathorn Burasuk doubled the lead following an assist from Danuphon Bubpha. Just two minutes later, the same striker added another with a precise header from a corner kick taken by Pitchaya Kongsri, making it 3-0.

Not stopping there, Phattharathorn completed his hat-trick in the 36th minute from a convenient cross by Witthawat Phraothaisong. Before the first half ended, Pitchaya Kongsri successfully converted a penalty in the 40th minute, giving Thailand U19 a 5-0 lead after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the one-sided action continued. In the 49th minute, Sivakorn Phonsan scored the sixth goal for the blue-shirted side after an assist from Natthakit Phosri. Just three minutes later, Sivakorn bagged a brace by making the most of a chance inside the box, extending the lead to 7-0.

During the remaining time, Brunei U19 could barely put up any meaningful resistance against the constant pressure from their opponents. In the 69th minute, Kongnat Thuamthongdee added his name to the scoresheet with a precise finish, widening the gap to eight goals.

In the 89th minute, Kongnat left his mark again with a well-placed assist that allowed Natthakit Phosri to score, wrapping up an emphatic 9-0 victory for Thailand U19.

With this explosive performance, Thailand U19 not only secured three points but also gained a huge advantage in the race for the top spot in Group B. Under the tournament format, only the group winners are guaranteed a place in the semifinals, while the second-placed teams must compete for progression based on their overall record and goal difference.
