Vietnam's opponent at the ASEAN Cup has been revealed.

The final opponent for Vietnam at the 2026 ASEAN Cup is gradually becoming clear. Timor-Leste holds a significant advantage after a convincing victory over Brunei in the first leg of the play-off. Expected to perform well, Timor-Leste won 3-0 on Brunei's home turf.

In the 2026 ASEAN Cup, Vietnam is placed in Group A alongside Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, and the winner of the play-off between Timor-Leste and Brunei.

Timor-Leste holds a strong advantage in the race to qualify for the 2026 ASEAN Cup. The second leg of the play-off between the two teams will take place on June 9 at a neutral venue in Malaysia.

In Group A, Young Hanoi continued their consistent form with a 1-0 away win against Ha Tinh Sports Training and Competition Center. This was the young capital team's sixth victory of the season, raising their total to 24 points after 12 matches, maintaining an unbeaten record and holding the top spot.

Hue defeated Young Hanoi Police 3-1 to increase their points to 22 after 11 matches. Meanwhile, PVF was held to a 1-1 draw by Young SHB Da Nang, earning just one point to bring their total to 14.

With these results, Group A has officially confirmed two teams advancing to the Finals: Young Hanoi and Hue.

In Group B, Lam Dong secured an important 2-0 win away at Tay Ninh to move to the top of the group with 22 points after 11 matches.

Three teams have secured their places in the 2026 National Second Division Finals: Young Hanoi, Hue, and Lam Dong.

The remaining ticket will be determined after the final qualifying round on June 7.

Vietnam U19 sets long-term goals.

VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu stated that the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship is an important stepping stone for Vietnam U19 to gain experience ahead of the 2027 AFC U20 qualifiers.

Mr. Tran Anh Tu shared: "For youth teams, results and player development must go hand in hand. We want Vietnam U19 to achieve the best possible outcome in this tournament, but more importantly, to build a team with identity, competitiveness, and resources for higher levels.

The ASEAN U19 Championship is a step in the roadmap toward the 2027 AFC U20 qualifiers and beyond, for the U23 and national teams. Therefore, besides match results, we pay special attention to the players' growth through official international matches.

After the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship, the Vietnam U19 team will reconvene after the National U21 Championship on July 29. The team will have a training camp in Japan from August 8 to August 17 to further enhance professional quality and finalize the squad."

Doan Ngoc Tan set to join The Cong Viettel.

Midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan will wear the jersey of The Cong Viettel from next season after reaching an agreement with the army-backed club.

Recently, Doan Ngoc Tan confirmed his departure from Dong A Thanh Hoa after six years. During his time with the Thanh Hoa club, he made nearly 130 appearances, contributing to the club's two National Cup titles and one National Super Cup.

Doan Ngoc Tan was called up by Coach Kim Sang-sik to the Vietnam national team for the 2024 ASEAN Cup and contributed to the team's championship victory.
