Vietnam U19 is determined to defeat Myanmar at the Southeast Asian tournament.

Vietnam's U19 squad completed their last practice on the afternoon of June 3, gearing up for the encounter against Myanmar U19 in the second round of Group A at the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), after a 3-0 victory over Timor-Leste U19 in their opening match, head coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's squad entered the training session with high morale but without any complacency.

On the training ground, the coaching staff focused on perfecting tactical patterns while reviewing and adjusting the technical issues pointed out after the first match.

Despite securing all three points and a favorable start, the Vietnam U19 coaching staff still set high demands to help the team better utilize their capabilities.

Therefore, the training content on the afternoon of June 3 primarily aimed at improving inter-line coordination, enhancing chance conversion, and strengthening focus in defensive organization.

Compared to Timor-Leste, Myanmar U19 is regarded as a stronger opponent and is expected to pose many challenges for Vietnam U19. This team is also very determined to achieve a positive result after a 0-3 loss to hosts Indonesia in their opening match.

Besides the technical aspects, the situation in Group A also makes the clash between Vietnam U19 and Myanmar U19 particularly crucial.

According to the tournament's format, only the group winners and the best runner-up advance to the semifinals.

This means Vietnam U19 needs to aim for a win to maintain their advantage in the race for progression, before entering the predicted difficult match against hosts Indonesia in the final group stage.

According to team leader Nguyen Anh Tuan, the entire squad is currently in good physical and mental condition after days of competition and training in Medan. The pitch conditions and weather are no longer major obstacles as the players have had time to adapt since arriving in Indonesia.

Vietnam U19 temporarily leads Group A after the first matchday with a 3-0 win over Timor-Leste U19. Indonesia U19 also defeated Myanmar U19 by the same score, giving them an identical goal difference to Vietnam's team.

The match between Vietnam U19 and Myanmar U19 will take place at 16:00 on June 4 at the Sumatera Utara Main Stadium (Indonesia) and will be broadcast live on TV360.

The 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship runs from June 1 to 13 in Indonesia, featuring 11 top youth teams in the region. Vietnam U19 is in Group A alongside hosts Indonesia, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste. Among these, the encounter with Indonesia on June 7 is seen as decisive for the top spot.

The semifinals will take place on June 11, with the final held on the evening of June 13 at the North Sumatra Stadium.
