MU sells Hojlund outright, using the proceeds to buy Ederson

The Danish striker has officially bid farewell to MU, moving to Napoli under a permanent contract.

The Danish forward spent the past season at Napoli on loan. The buyout clause in the contract was automatically triggered after the Serie A side secured a Champions League spot.

This deal is worth a total of £43.2 million ($58.1 million), including last season's loan fee, and was confirmed by both parties on Wednesday.

Hojlund leaves Old Trafford three years after his blockbuster £72 million ($96.8 million) transfer from Atalanta in 2023.

Rasmus Hojlund has officially parted ways with MU

He scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for Man United, but was forced to leave last summer following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Sources told ESPN that the funds from Hojlund's buyout clause to Napoli, approximately £38 million ($51 million), will be used to finance the signing of midfielder Ederson from Atalanta.

The Brazilian player is set to join Man United for an initial fee of £35 million ($47 million), with additional performance-related add-ons.

Ederson will join MU

Old Trafford is expected to see more departures this summer. Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho will all leave as free transfers.

MU's management also anticipates interest from Italian clubs for striker Joshua Zirkzee and from Turkish clubs for backup goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. Additionally, they are open to listening to offers for midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

MU hopes to quickly resolve the futures of Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana, both of whom spent last season on loan at Barcelona and Trabzonspor respectively.

Barcelona has the option to trigger Rashford's buyout clause for £26 million ($35 million) before June 15. Meanwhile, Onana has been told he is not in coach Michael Carrick's plans for the upcoming season.
