Yemen is the opponent of the Vietnamese national team at the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Nasser Al Gahwashi scored both goals, leading Yemen to a 2-0 victory over Lebanon in Group B of the final qualifiers for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, making them the last team to secure a spot in the finals.

Yemen topped the group with 14 points and will return to the continental stage after missing the 2023 Asian Cup. In the finals, Yemen is placed in Group E alongside South Korea, the UAE, and Vietnam.

The game's balance shifted in the 62nd minute after a poor header by Walid Shour. Adel Abbas headed the ball on, allowing Al Gahwashi to control it and fire a low shot past advancing goalkeeper Mostafa Matar, opening the scoring for Yemen.

In the 90th minute, Al Gahwashi completed his brace after receiving a through ball from Mamdooh Saleh and finishing neatly, sealing a 2-0 win for Yemen. This result secured Yemen's place in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals.

Saigon Titans failed to pull off an upset against Thai Son Bac.

After several missed chances, Thai Son Bac broke the deadlock in the 14th minute. Although goalkeeper Xuan Hiep repeatedly blocked shots from Cong Dai, Trong Kien managed to rush in and tap in the rebound from close range to open the scoring.

Just seconds later, Cong Dai stole the ball from Thanh Tam's feet and finished accurately, doubling the lead for the home team.

Before the first half ended, Thanh Tam redeemed his earlier mistake by scoring to pull one back for Saigon Titans, making it 1-2 and keeping the visitors' hopes alive.

VFF selects My Dinh Stadium to host the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has reached an agreement with the My Dinh National Sports Complex Management Board to lease My Dinh Stadium to host the home matches of the Vietnamese national team at the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

The Vietnamese team will face Singapore and Cambodia in group stage home matches, and will also play potential semifinal and final matches there if they advance.

On May 9, the My Dinh National Sports Complex Management Board completed laying new turf after several months of groundwork and infrastructure work beneath the field.

This marks the first time since its use for the 2003 SEA Games that the foundation layer of My Dinh Stadium has been completely renovated, at a cost of over 8 billion VND.

The last time Vietnam played at My Dinh Stadium was during the September 2024 FIFA Days, at the LPBank Cup 2024 international tournament featuring Thailand and Russia.

Thanh Hoa Club qualifies for the 2026/27 V.League.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has granted a license to Dong A Thanh Hoa FC to participate in the 2026/27 V.League after the club completed all necessary procedures.

According to Decision No. 545/QD-LDBDVN issued on June 2, 2026, the VFF Licensing Committee officially accepted the appeal of Dong A Thanh Hoa FC.

Previously, on May 23, 2026, the VFF Licensing Committee revoked the club's V.League license. By May 28, 2026, the club submitted an appeal with supporting documents proving it had fulfilled all financial obligations, including full payment of employee wages through December 31, 2025.

Dong A Thanh Hoa FC has been granted a license for the 2026/27 V.League but still receives a warning for not complying with the initial deadlines in the licensing process.
