OFFICIAL: Xuân Son honored ahead of joining Vietnam National Team

Xuân Son was awarded for his spectacular bicycle kick in round 25 of the V-League.

Although he did not win the top individual honor for May, striker Nguyễn Xuân Son became the center of attention when the V-League 2025/2026 organizers awarded him the Best Goal of the Month. This honor came from his spectacular strike in the 23rd minute of the match between Thép Xanh Nam Định and SLNA at Thiên Trường Stadium on May 31.

The goal originated from a well-coordinated attacking move on Nam Định's right flank. After a favorable cross from Tuấn Anh, Xuân Son, with his back to the goal, unexpectedly launched himself into a spectacular bicycle kick. The ball traveled powerfully, bounced off the ground, and slammed into the net, leaving goalkeeper Cao Văn Bình helpless, creating one of the most beautiful moments of the season.

This masterpiece also contributed to Xuân Son's explosive performance against SLNA. The naturalized striker completed a hat-trick, playing a key role in Nam Định's convincing 3-0 victory. More importantly, he ended a streak of six consecutive matches without scoring, bringing his total V-League goals this season to six.

Xuân Son's timely comeback is seen as a positive sign not only for Nam Định but also for the Vietnam National Team ahead of the 2026 AFF Cup. With his proven class, the striker born in 1997 is expected to maintain his high form in the crucial upcoming period of the season as well as at the national team level.

Meanwhile, in the other categories for May, Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) showed dominance by winning all three important awards. The police team was voted the Best Club of the Month thanks to impressive results during the season's sprint phase, thereby maintaining their competitive position in the leading group.

CAHN's success is closely linked to the imprint of coach Alexandre Polking, who was named Best Coach of the Month. Additionally, striker Alan received the Best Player of the Month award for his outstanding performances and important goals. According to the plan, CAHN's three awards will be presented before their match against Thể Công Viettel on June 7, while Xuân Son will receive his Best Goal of the Month award before the clash between Hải Phòng and Nam Định at Lạch Tray Stadium on the same day.
