Previously, the selection process was carried out in Nghe An (June 10) with over 40 candidates, in Ho Chi Minh City (June 12) with nearly 100 candidates, and in the Hanoi region today (June 14) at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, with the participation of about 150 candidates.
At each selection location, candidates are grouped by age to undergo professional tests. The group of players born in 2011-2012 is evaluated with a view to supplementing the national youth women's teams in the near future. Meanwhile, the group of players born in 2013-2015 is considered a pool of successors for younger age groups.
The candidates underwent a testing system including speed, strength, coordination, ball-handling skills, and competitive matches. Through this comprehensive evaluation process, the Selection Board has a basis to identify players with development potential who are suitable for long-term training orientation.
According to the plan, candidates who pass the preliminary round will participate in the centralized selection phase from June 19-22 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. Here, the players will continue to undergo in-depth professional tests and physical assessments before being considered for selection.
The women's football talent selection program is one of the activities under the women's football development strategy of VFF and FIFA, contributing to expanding the pool of young players, creating a foundation for training and building a successor force for the national women's teams in the future.
