CAHN and Công an TP.HCM are set to clash in the 2026 National Super Cup, marking the start of a new chapter in Vietnamese football.
The 2026/27 season of Vietnamese football will officially begin with the National Super Cup match between Công an Hà Nội (CAHN) and Công an TP.HCM on August 30. This showdown between the two police force representatives is expected to provide an exciting start to the new season, as both teams have just concluded successful campaigns.
CAHN enters the match as the 2025/26 V.League champion. Under the guidance of head coach Mano Polking, the police team demonstrated consistent performance throughout the season to claim a convincing title. Meanwhile, Công an TP.HCM earned their Super Cup berth by winning the National Cup following a victory over Ninh Bình in the final.
This upcoming matchup is not only about vying for the season’s first trophy but also serves as an opportunity for both sides to assert their domestic ambitions. Notably, CAHN holds an advantage in head-to-head records, having defeated Công an TP.HCM in both V.League fixtures last season with scores of 1-0 and 3-0.
After the National Super Cup, the 2026/27 V.League is scheduled to kick off on September 4. The National First Division will begin on September 11, while the National Cup will run from November 6, 2026, to May 30, 2027. Notably, the cup competition will undergo a major change, with the semifinals adopting a two-legged format instead of a single knockout match.
Vietnamese football has also confirmed the representatives for continental tournaments in the upcoming season. CAHN will participate in the play-off round of the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite, and will join Công an TP.HCM as Vietnam’s representatives in the Shopee Cup. Meanwhile, Thể Công Viettel has secured direct entry into the group stage of the AFC Champions League Two.
With deep squads and high ambitions, both CAHN and Công an TP.HCM are aiming for the season’s first title. The 2026 National Super Cup is not only a battle between two champions but also a statement of strength ahead of a challenging new season.
