The Indonesian Football Association just organized a Water Break talk show titled "ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026: Striving for Indonesia's Maiden Title" at the N Brand Experience Center in SCBD, Jakarta, on July 3.
The event is part of efforts to unify the views of various national football stakeholders ahead of the 2026 AFF Cup.
The forum brought together representatives from the association, Indonesian national team players, and domestic football analysts. Discussions focused on the team's preparations and the goal of winning the first AFF Cup title in history.
Head of the National Team Committee (BTN) Sumardji stated that the Indonesian team is being prepared comprehensively. According to him, all aspects—from training camps, player selection, to team requirements—have been arranged.

"So far, we have never experienced the wonderful euphoria of winning the AFF Cup at the national team level. Therefore, in my opinion, 2026 is a very suitable time," Sumardji told reporters.
Sumardji revealed that the Indonesian national team will begin training in Bali on July 5, 2026. The selection process will be carried out in two stages, starting from approximately 46 players under observation, before choosing 24 to 26 based on assessments from the coaching staff led by head coach John Herdman.
"I am optimistic that at the 2026 AFF Cup, we can achieve the goals, aspirations, and hopes of all Indonesian people," he said.
Indonesian national team goalkeeper Cahya Supriadi also expressed similar optimism. He affirmed that all players understand the assigned target and are ready to carry out the training program with maximum effort.
"We are determined to win the championship. Therefore, we will follow the entire training program prepared by Coach John and strive to complete each session to the best of our ability.
At the 2010 AFF Cup, I really admired Markus Horison. I even wanted to buy a goalkeeper jersey with polka dots but never had the chance. However, thank God, now I get to wear the national team jersey myself," he added.
