South Korean outlets keep paying attention to the Vietnamese squad in their training stint in South Korea, with Kim Sang Sik gearing up for an unprecedented achievement in Vietnam's football history.
On July 4, South Korean media reported that the Vietnam national team began their training program in Incheon to prepare for the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players will train in South Korea until July 14.
According to Korean reports, the training camp is organized with the aim of improving physical fitness, enhancing organization, and perfecting tactics for the Vietnam team ahead of their campaign to defend the Southeast Asian championship.
During nearly two weeks in South Korea, the Vietnam national team will play three friendly matches. On July 5, Kim Sang Sik's side faces Siheung FC, a team currently playing in the K3 League.

On July 8, Vietnam meets Yongin FC of K League 2. The final opponent for Quang Hai and his teammates is Gangwon FC, a K League 1 representative, on July 13.
Notably, the opponents are selected in increasing order of difficulty, from the third division to the first division and the highest level of Korean professional football. This is seen as an opportunity for Coach Kim Sang Sik to evaluate player form and test tactical plans ahead of the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026.
South Korean media particularly highlights the ambition of Coach Kim Sang Sik. The Korean tactician helped Vietnam claim the Southeast Asian championship in 2024 and is now aiming for a second consecutive title.
If successful, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players will help Vietnamese football successfully defend the Southeast Asian championship for the first time.
Therefore, the training camp in South Korea holds special significance for the Vietnam national team. It is not only a phase of professional refinement but also a crucial preparation step for the ambition to set a new milestone for Vietnamese football under Coach Kim Sang Sik.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam national team will begin their ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 campaign with an away match against Timor Leste on July 24.
