Controversy! Paraguayan goalkeeper hits Mbappé with the ball after elimination: He ignored my congratulations, no class

The opening Round of 16 clash of the World Cup ended on July 5th Beijing time, with Paraguay falling 0-1 to France, thus missing out on a quarterfinal spot and concluding their World Cup campaign. Following the final whistle, controversial actions by Paraguay's goalkeeper Orlando Hill, who hurled the ball at Mbappé, drew widespread attention.[Watch the World Cup on Migu Video]

After the final whistle, a frustrated Orlando Hill picked up the ball and attempted to shake hands with Mbappé, who was nearby. Perhaps annoyed by repeated rough fouls from Paraguayan players throughout the match, or perhaps simply not noticing Hill, Mbappé ignored the Paraguayan goalkeeper completely.

Instead, he pumped his fist three times and roared in celebration. Feeling humiliated, Hill instantly lost his temper and struck Mbappé in the back with the ball. Mbappé did not retaliate but continued celebrating on his own.

After the game, Hill explained his controversial behavior: "I extended my hand to congratulate him, but he completely ignored me—that was very unsportsmanlike. I acted on impulse at that moment, but I calmed down later. I just wanted to offer my congratulations; in fact, France played exceptionally well and are strong contenders for this World Cup title."

Notably, Orlando Hill was named Man of the Match despite being on the losing side, thanks to four saves and six long passes. Mbappé, who scored the only goal of the game, missed out on the award.
