The Vietnam squad keeps up the training pace during their South Korea camp after their first practice match against Siheung FC. Significantly, forward Nguyen Tran Viet Cuong has voiced his eagerness to team up with Xuan Son on the national team's frontline.
On the afternoon of July 6, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players returned to the training ground in Incheon. The coaching staff designed a recovery-oriented training plan while still maintaining the necessary intensity to help the players keep their rhythm. At the end of the session, the entire team engaged in a high-speed 6-on-6 scrimmage.

Earlier, the Vietnam national team secured a 6-0 victory over Siheung FC in their first friendly match in South Korea. Viet Cuong was among the goal scorers. The forward revealed that this was his first goal while wearing the Vietnam national team jersey, even though it came in a practice match.
Discussing the competition in the forward line, Viet Cuong specifically referenced Xuan Son. He admitted that he greatly admires the playing style of the naturalized striker and hopes to have the chance to partner with him in the coming period.
"This is my first goal in the national team shirt, even if it was just a practice match. It gives me extra motivation and confidence to keep pushing myself in training and in the upcoming games.
The next two matches will be tougher. If the coaching staff gives me the chance, I will give my all and fulfill my duties to the best of my ability.

"The team's forward line currently has many quality players. I view the competition as motivation to push myself harder in training and to compete based on my own abilities," Viet Cuong shared after scoring the opening goal in the friendly match against Siheung FC.
According to Viet Cuong, head coach Kim Sang Sik frequently holds one-on-one discussions with each player. The Korean manager not only instills motivation but also helps his players better understand the football philosophy and their individual roles within the team's overall system.
As planned, the Vietnam national team will face Yongin FC on July 8, followed by a friendly match against Gangwon FC. These are seen as more challenging tests for coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad as they prepare for the ASEAN Championship 2026.
