Latest standings of the Women's Volleyball Nations League: Four of the eight finalists have been decided, China advances, while Japan faces elimination!

On July 11 Beijing time, the Women's Volleyball Nations League proceeded with rounds ten and eleven. In yesterday's games, frontrunner USA survived a five-set marathon against Turkey to win 3-2; Brazil breezed past Poland 3-1; reigning champion Italy dominated Belgium 3-0 in a European derby; and Netherlands crushed Germany 3-0. As a result, the latest rankings have USA, Brazil, Italy, and host China already qualified for the top eight, while Netherlands climbed to fourth and Japan dropped to sixth!

USA faced Turkey. Having lost 2-3 to Poland in five sets in their previous round, USA met Turkey in a tough back-to-back clash. The match featured intense, nail-biting exchanges, with each set tightly contested. Turkey took the lead twice, but USA fought back each time to equalize. In the deciding set, USA erupted offensively to dominate 15-8, reversing the match 3-2. With one extra game played, USA leads Brazil and stays first, but the ultimate top spot will be decided in their final round direct showdown with Brazil.

Brazil took on Poland. As a world powerhouse, Brazil has lost only one of ten matches so far. In this high-stakes encounter, the first two sets were evenly split. The third and fourth sets were extremely close, with neither team able to pull away significantly. However, Brazil delivered clutch plays in critical moments, winning both sets by just two points to claim a 3-1 victory. They remain second in the standings and have a realistic chance to take the lead depending on the final round.

Italy faced underdog Belgium. As the defending champions, Italy dominated the match with overwhelming strength, encountering very little resistance. They steamrolled Belgium 3-0 to secure their third consecutive win, staying close behind USA and Brazil in third place, while also locking in a spot in the Finals.

Netherlands have performed impressively in this edition of the tournament. In their European derby against Germany, each set was fiercely competitive, yet the scores tilted decisively in favor of the Dutch, who swept Germany 3-0. Remarkably, all three sets ended 25-23. Their superior execution in key moments propelled them to fourth place, significantly boosting their chances to reach the Finals.

The Japanese women's team is under immense pressure. Although currently ranked sixth, they face two tough back-to-back matches against strong European sides Turkey and Poland. Japan cannot be confident of winning either contest. If they lose both, they are highly likely to be eliminated from the tournament.
