Malaysia announces 26-player squad for the 2026 Asean Cup

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has unveiled a 26-man roster for the national team as they gear up for the 2026 AFF Hyundai Cup. The team will start assembling on July 15, led by caretaker coach Tan Cheng Hoe.

This is the first training camp for the Malaysian team since Tan Cheng Hoe was appointed by FAM to take over from head coach Peter Cklamovski. Since the 2026 Asean Hyundai Cup falls outside the FIFA Days calendar, the coaching staff will have just over a week to assemble the squad before the tournament begins.

The 26-player list combines experienced figures with promising young talents currently performing well in the Malaysia Super League. Notable names include Dominic Tan, Paulo Josue, Mohamadou Sumareh, Syafiq Ahmad, Endrick Dos Santos, Wan Kuzain, and Hadi Fayyadh.

In the goalkeeper position, Coach Tan Cheng Hoe has called up Azri Ghani, Haziq Aiman, and Rahadiazli Rahalim.

The defensive line consists of Alif Ahmad, Dominic Tan, Faris Danish, Jimmy Raymond, Rodney Celvin, Ubaidullah Shamsul, and V. Ruventhiran.

The midfield includes Aliff Haiqal Lau, Daryl Syam, Endrick Dos Santos, Engku Shakir, Ibrahim Manusi, Sergio Aguero, Wan Kuzain, Zhafri Yahya, and Ziad El Basheer.

Up front, Malaysia places its trust in Fazrul Amir, G. Pavithran, Hadi Fayyadh, Mohamadou Sumareh, Paulo Josue, Richard Chin, and Syafiq Ahmad.

According to the plan, the Malaysian team will assemble on July 15 to prepare for the 2026 Asean Hyundai Cup. As of now, FAM has not yet announced the training location or any pre-tournament friendly matches. Given the short preparation period, the coaching staff is likely to focus on refining gameplay and evaluating player form during training sessions.

In the 2026 Asean Hyundai Cup, Malaysia is placed in Group B alongside Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. Interim coach Tan Cheng Hoe's squad is expected to compete fiercely with Thailand for the top spot in the group, while the Philippines also poses a significant challenge in the race for a semifinal berth.
