Chinese referee bids farewell to the World Cup! 47-year-old Ma Ning no longer on the remaining officiating list, only two AFC referees left

On July 13th Beijing time, Omani journalist Issa Al-Said published the list of remaining referees for this World Cup, which shows that 47-year-old Chinese referee Ma Ning is no longer included by the AFC. This means that Ma Ning and Zhou Fei have completed all their officiating duties for this World Cup.

Earlier, another Chinese referee who officiated at the World Cup, Fu Ming, had already left the event and returned to China after finishing all seven of his assigned matches. With Ma Ning absent from the remaining referees list, Chinese referees have officially concluded their journey at this World Cup.

During this World Cup, the 47-year-old Ma Ning served as the head referee for the second round of the group stage match between Ecuador and Curaçao. This was his first time acting as a head referee in a World Cup finals match, making him the second Chinese national to officiate a World Cup.

After that, he also served as the fourth official for three matches: England vs Ghana, France vs Norway, and Germany vs Paraguay.

It is worth noting that as early as the 2022 World Cup, Ma Ning was already involved in officiating duties during the finals, though he did not have the opportunity to serve as a head referee at that time.
