Foreign player from Thai League joins Ninh Bình FC

Ninh Bình FC continues to bolster its roster before the V.League 2026/2027 campaign, having officially unveiled the contract with Brazilian midfielder Romeu Martins Rezende, a notable figure in the recent Thai League season.

Born in 1998, Romeu Martins stands 1.85 meters tall and specializes as a defensive midfielder, though he can also operate as a central midfielder. The Brazilian player is highly regarded for his strong physical foundation, fierce tackling ability, and modern playing style that excels both in defense and in distributing the ball from midfield.

During the 2025/2026 season, Romeu played for Sukhothai FC in Thai League 1, leaving his mark with 5 goals and 1 assist in 27 appearances in the Thai national league. Across all competitions, the 28-year-old midfielder netted 6 goals in 29 matches, showcasing a notable attacking contribution despite playing as a defensive midfielder.

The arrival of Romeu is expected to add steel to the midfield of the ancient capital club, while also providing additional tactical options for head coach Chu Đình Nghiêm in the 2026/27 season.

Notably, Romeu is one of the new foreign signings brought in by Ninh Bình FC during the summer transfer window as they aim to compete for the championship. Previously, the club had announced Brazilian center-back Lucas Turci, former PVF-CAND defender, and midfielder Marciel da Silva, a standout performer for HAGL last season.

According to the current squad list, Ninh Bình FC has completed its group of foreign players for the new season with five players: Lucas Turci, Marciel da Silva, Romeu Martins, striker Lucao do Break, and Nigerian forward Fred Friday.

This is considered a high-quality foreign core with extensive experience in the V.League and regional tournaments, clearly reflecting the club's ambitions after finishing third in the previous season.
