Manchester United has officially announced their second summer signing, who will wear the No. 12 jersey and has already met with Carrick! The next new recruit is also ready.

Apart from Tielemans, United officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow this Tuesday. The 35-year-old Wales international, whose contract with Leeds had ended, came on a free transfer. Darlow's contract runs until June 2028, with a club option for another season. Upon signing, he met manager Carrick at Carrington and can officially represent the club once his registration is complete.

Darlow's Premier League experience is limited, with only 74 of his 279 professional appearances coming in the English top flight. However, last season he worked hard to become Leeds United's first-choice goalkeeper, which caught Manchester United's attention, leading to an invitation to join as a backup for Senna Ramens.

André Onana has extended his loan to Trabzonspor in Turkey. The 28-year-old former No. 2 goalkeeper Altay Bayındır, as well as the 22-year-old young player Radek Vitek, who returned from loan, are both looking to transfer. Therefore, Darlow will serve as Manchester United's starting goalkeeper in the League Cup and FA Cup next season. With this, United's goalkeeper restructuring is complete: Ramens, Darlow, and Tom Heaton will be the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 goalkeepers respectively.

Recalling his decision to join United, Darlow said: "I think the answer is obvious — the club's status, its rich history, and its influence. In my opinion, Manchester United is probably the biggest club in the world. So, once I heard that a club like United was interested, the answer was definitely yes. I'm very happy that this has finally come true."

Darlow continued: "It's a great honor to join Manchester United. I'm joining a fantastic group of goalkeepers, and I'm really looking forward to pushing each other and ensuring we meet the highest standards the club demands. This is a very special opportunity. Everyone can see how exciting the times are for the club. I can't wait to do my part, support my teammates, and help drive the team forward."

Although Darlow's appearances are likely to be limited, he stated: "I always give my all for the badge, not just in matches but also in training. I'll do my best and hope to bring some stability and composure to this challenging position of Manchester United goalkeeper."

Manchester United's football director Jason Wilcox explained: "Karl (Darlow) has proven he can perform at the highest level. His work ethic and strong character make him a valuable addition to our squad. We are delighted to have a player of his quality and experience join our excellent goalkeeping team."

Meanwhile, United announced that Darlow will wear the No. 12 jersey for the new season. The Welsh international wore No. 26 at Leeds, but used the No. 12 during his time at Hull City and Nottingham Forest. This number previously belonged to left-back Tyrell Malacia, who left after his contract expired this summer. Ben Foster was the last goalkeeper to wear United's No. 12, famously playing a key role in the 2009 League Cup final victory over Tottenham on penalties.

After securing André Santos, Darlow, and Tielemans within a week, Manchester United's first-team signings will not stop, but the process may slow down temporarily as they weigh their next target. However, the club's fourth summer signing is already ready — but it is a youth academy addition.

Cristiano Orozco, nicknamed "Colombian Caicedo," who turned 18 this Monday, has passed his medical. He can be announced as a new member of Manchester United's youth system at any time. The club had already paid £750,000 to sign him from Fortaleza CEIF in Colombia last September, but had to wait until he reached the age required by FIFA regulations to complete the transfer.

Nowadays, top Premier League clubs are increasingly poaching the best young football talents from South America. Orozco served as captain of Colombia's U17 national team, leading them to the final of the 2025 South American U17 Championship held on home soil, which caught the attention of Manchester United's chief South American scout, Giuseppe Antonnaccio.

Now officially a Manchester United player, Orozco will not immediately join Carrick's first-team squad. Instead, he will be integrated into the U21 youth team for development, which is currently conducting pre-season training and friendly matches in Germany.
