According to the schedule, Myanmar's team will depart for Vietnam today. The friendly match between Vietnam and Myanmar will kick off at 18:30 (Myanmar time) on July 18 in Thai Nguyen city.
The match against Vietnam also marks the official debut of Coach Jørn Andersen as Myanmar's head coach. The Norwegian tactician was recently appointed by the Myanmar Football Federation with the task of leading the team towards the 2026 ASEAN Cup and the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.
In the 2026 ASEAN Cup, Myanmar is placed in Group B alongside Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Laos. This is considered a challenging group, as Myanmar must compete with three ambitious teams—Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines—for one of the two semifinal spots.
The friendly against Vietnam is seen as a crucial warm-up for Coach Jørn Andersen to evaluate player abilities, test tactics, and finalize the squad framework before embarking on the journey in the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
