The club Công an TP.HCM has formally named Arthur Diles as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 V.League campaign.
Công an TP.HCM FC has officially announced Arthur Diles as their new captain at the helm, ushering in a preparation phase for the 2026/27 season with high expectations. The Australian tactician is expected to help the city's representative compete both in the V.League and on the regional stage, following a successful season that saw them win the National Cup.
Born on 22 April 1982 in Sydney, Australia, Arthur Diles played as a centre-back before transitioning into coaching. He holds a Pro Licence and has over 10 years of experience working in professional football environments in Australia and Greece. Prior to his arrival in Vietnam, he served in various roles such as AEK Athens academy coach, Sydney Olympic technical director, Western Sydney Wanderers youth head coach, and assistant coach at Western Sydney Wanderers, Xanthi, Newcastle Jets, and Melbourne Victory.
The biggest milestone in Arthur Diles' career came at the end of 2024 when he was appointed to lead Melbourne Victory following Patrick Kisnorbo's departure. Starting as interim head coach, he quickly earned trust, signed a permanent contract, and guided the team to the A-League Men 2024/25 Grand Final. In the 2025/26 season, Melbourne Victory again finished in the top group before parting ways with the tactician when his contract expired in May 2026.
During nearly 18 months at Melbourne Victory, Arthur Diles oversaw 50 A-League matches, leading the team into the top six in two consecutive seasons and reaching the Grand Final once. Australian experts regard him as a coach who pursues an organized playing style, emphasizes tactical discipline, and has a particular knack for developing young players. These are precisely the qualities that Công an TP.HCM FC hopes will create a new identity for the club in the coming period.
The appointment of Arthur Diles also marks the end of the search for a head coach after Phùng Thanh Phương completed his interim role in the final phase of last season. Under the guidance of the new coaching staff, the city-based club aims to compete for the V.League title and make a deep run in the ASEAN Shopee Cup. To realize those ambitions, the club has been active in the transfer market to upgrade the squad.
Alongside retaining the core that performed well in the 2025/26 season, Công an TP.HCM is reported to have reached agreements to sign two V.League champions, Phan Văn Đức and Nguyễn Văn Đức, while also approaching Uzbekistan national team midfielder Odiljon Hamrobekov. The team has also assembled since the beginning of July to undergo fitness tests, refine tactics, and become familiar with Arthur Diles' philosophy, looking ahead to the 2026/27 season with a determination to conquer domestic and regional titles.
