United's fourth signing confirms his arrival! Colombian Caicedo reveals personal traits and sets post-transfer goals

Manchester United's fourth summer signing has been confirmed as 18-year-old Colombian midfielder Cristián Orozco. In an interview with his country's ESPN channel, he confirmed that he has officially become a Red Devils player, having turned 18 on Monday, meeting the minimum age requirement for international transfers. Orozco becomes the second Colombian player in the club's history after former United striker Radamel Falcao, who joined on loan during Louis van Gaal's tenure at Old Trafford but failed to make an impact.

Orozco had already secured his move from Colombian top-flight side Fortaleza CEIF to United last October, but had to wait until he turned 18. Now he has arrived in Manchester, completed his medical, and is in the process of obtaining his work permit and registration before embarking on the next stage of his career.

From his residence in Manchester, Orozco connected with Colombian media and explained that he has already started learning English, which is his top priority at this stage. "I hope to learn a lot of English. When I arrived at Manchester United, I truly realized how important English is," Orozco said.

Orozco stated that he understands success at United depends on more than just football skills, and his immediate goal is to adapt quickly to the new environment before proving himself on the pitch. He explained, "I want to get here as soon as possible and start learning. That's what I have to do to show my level and all my abilities. I want to adapt quickly to all the situations I will face."

When asked what will help him earn a place at Old Trafford, the former Colombia U17 captain expressed confidence that his attributes are sufficient to make it in English football, while also acknowledging it will be a long process requiring patience.

"I know my strengths lie in physicality and technique. I have those qualities, plus the talent God gave me, so I don't think it will be too difficult. But it's all about adaptation. I'm still young, and that's what I need to do," Orozco said. He is often compared to Chelsea's Ecuadorian midfield powerhouse Moisés Caicedo, as their playing styles share similarities.

Orozco is waiting for United to announce his signing, though the club may choose to handle it quietly without officially disclosing his £750,000 transfer, which is common in youth player deals. British media predict he will be assigned to United's U21 preseason training rather than joining Carrick's first team. Orozco's attitude is simple: "I hope to adapt as quickly as possible."

Similar to what United recently did with Malian defensive midfielder Sekou Koné and Paraguayan left-back Diego León, Orozco is likely to remain at the Carrington academy this season to adapt to his new surroundings rather than being loaned out. However, after a year or two, he may need a loan spell to gain first-team experience before having a chance to prove himself in the senior squad.

Orozco's comparison target, Caicedo, once had the opportunity to join United from Ecuador's Independiente del Valle but it fell through, and he was eventually signed by Brighton for £4 million. The Seagulls quickly loaned him to Belgian side Beerschot, where he played half a season before being recalled, gradually breaking into Brighton's first team and scoring his first goal against United!

United are also in dire need of quality midfielders, having already spent £85 million on André Santos and Youri Tielemans, and are still looking for a third midfield addition. For now, Orozco cannot be the "answer"—he must work hard and develop himself.
