Myanmar team arrives in Thai Nguyen, ready to test themselves against Vietnam.

Myanmar's squad has reached Thai Nguyen in preparation for their friendly international clash with Vietnam, set to kick off at 19:00 on July 18 at the Thai Nguyen Stadium.

Coach Jorn Andersen and his players arrived in Vietnam after traveling from Yangon and quickly settled into their accommodation to begin training sessions to adapt to the playing conditions.

Myanmar has brought 26 players to Vietnam, combining experienced veterans with many young faces. According to the Myanmar Football Federation, this visit to face Vietnam is a crucial dress rehearsal to finalize the squad, playing style, and assess the form of the players before the 2026 ASEAN Championship.

In the 2026 ASEAN Championship, Myanmar is placed in Group B alongside Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Laos. The team's goal is to be competitive in this highly challenging group to secure a spot in the semifinals.

On the Vietnam side, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team have just completed a training camp in Incheon, South Korea, and returned home on July 14. The team resumed training on the afternoon of July 15 to finalize their preparations.

The friendly match against Myanmar is seen as a dress rehearsal for the Vietnamese team before they embark on their campaign to defend the ASEAN Championship title in 2026.

This is also an opportunity for the coaching staff to test the lineup, evaluate player form, and refine tactical plans ahead of their opening match against Timor-Leste on July 24.

As of now, the appeal of the match is evident as all tickets priced at 200,000 VND and 300,000 VND have been sold out online. The organizing committee is continuing to sell the remaining tickets priced at 100,000 VND directly to serve fans in Thai Nguyen.
