Phan Van Duc officially joins CLB Cong an TP.HCM on a loan from CAHN, aiming for more game time in the 2026/27 season.
CLB Bong da Cong an TP.HCM has officially announced the notable signing of Phan Van Duc ahead of the 2026/27 season. The midfielder, born in 1996, moves from CLB Cong an Ha Noi on a loan basis, providing a chance to regain his form after a period of irregular playing time. The deal is also expected to strengthen the new team's attack as they pursue their season goals.
In an announcement on their official platforms, CLB Cong an TP.HCM stated: "Arriving from Cong An Ha Noi FC, with explosive play and decisive finishing, Phan Van Duc is expected to add more variety and effectiveness to the attack of CLB Bong da Cong an TP. Ho Chi Minh in the 2026/27 season. We wish Phan Van Duc good health and a quick adaptation to the new environment, so he can join CLB Bong da Cong an TP. Ho Chi Minh in conquering new goals!" This is seen as a quality addition for the city team named after Uncle Ho, as they acquire an experienced player who has worn the Vietnam national team jersey for many years.
Although moving to CA TP.HCM, Phan Van Duc still has a contract with CAHN until June 2028 after extending it for three more years in mid-2025. Therefore, this is merely a loan deal to allow the Nghe An-born player more match opportunities. With CAHN's squad increasingly crowded with stars, finding a new environment is considered a suitable choice for both parties.
Joining CAHN in the 2023 season, Van Duc had high expectations but unfortunately suffered a cruciate ligament injury, leading to a long layoff. After returning, he gradually regained his form and was even called up to the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang Sik. However, intense competition at both club and national team levels has prevented the 30-year-old midfielder from reclaiming his previous standing.
In the 2024/25 season, Phan Van Duc made 20 appearances and scored one goal for CAHN. However, in the 2025/26 season, the arrival of many quality newcomers meant he mostly came off the bench. Therefore, the move to CA TP.HCM is expected to give the player more playing time to regain his touch and peak form.
Although his time at CAHN was not entirely as expected, Phan Van Duc still won several trophies with the club, including 2 V-League titles, 1 National Cup, 1 National Super Cup, and the runner-up spot in the 2024/25 ASEAN Club Championship. At age 30, the Nghe An-born midfielder is still highly regarded for his experience, speed, and ability to create breakthroughs. If he shines for CA TP.HCM, Van Duc could well open the door to a return to the Vietnam national team in the near future.
