Coach Jorn Andersen: 'Losing to Vietnam is also normal'

Myanmar's head coach openly admitted that his squad will encounter a significant test in the away game against Vietnam, noting that springing a surprise is a very difficult mission.

In the pre-match press conference, this coach showed great respect for the host team. He stated that Vietnam possesses quality players and consistent form, making them the favorites in the upcoming encounter.

Nevertheless, the Myanmar coach affirmed that his players will enter the match with the utmost determination and strive to give their best.

He said: "If we lose to Vietnam, that's also normal. Vietnam is a stronger team than Myanmar. But that doesn't mean we will step onto the pitch and accept defeat."

In addition to acknowledging the gap in quality, the newly signed coach of Myanmar emphasized that the away team's goal is to play with the highest spirit and produce a watchable match.

He continued: "We will try our best, fight with all our might. In football, anything can happen. We will work hard to make it difficult for Vietnam."

According to Coach Jorn Andersen, Vietnam under Coach Kim Sang Sik has many quality players, plays cohesively, and always knows how to make a difference at crucial moments. This is why Myanmar must prepare thoroughly both tactically and psychologically.

Even though he highly rates the opponent, the Myanmar coach insisted that the team did not come to Vietnam with a defeatist attitude. He expects his players to show a positive fighting spirit, follow the game plan, and make the most of any opportunities that come their way.

"Normally Vietnam is stronger, but this is a friendly match and we also want to play against strong opponents. If we lose, it's normal; if we get a good result, it will be a big surprise."

In the FIFA rankings, Myanmar is 158th and Vietnam is around 98 or 99, which is a huge difference. We are here to learn, gain experience, and I hope to see a good performance from the players."

The statements of the Myanmar coach show respect for the Vietnam team, while also reflecting the reality of the strength comparison between the two sides before the match.

However, this coach also stressed that Myanmar will fight until the final minutes rather than accepting their fate before the ball is even kicked.

Meanwhile, captain Nanda Kyaw shared: "Myanmar has had many differences in previous encounters with Vietnam. We are also getting used to the new coach. Although it's a friendly, Myanmar wants to show what we have been training recently, so we will give our all."
