Manchester United announces the first squad for the pre-season opener! New £50 million signing makes his debut, Šeško injured and the "little Messi" left out.

Manchester United will play their first summer friendly at 11 PM on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Finland. £50 million new signing André Santos will wear the number 17 shirt for the first time, representing the team.

According to the 25-man squad announced by the club, the 22-year-old Santos has been included in Carrick's lineup and will make his debut against League One side Wrexham. The entire United squad arrived in Helsinki on Friday.

However, two other newly signed players, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow, will not take part. Tielemans is still on holiday after the World Cup, while Darlow is injured and unable to travel. The 35-year-old Welsh international underwent a minor operation after last season and is still recovering.

Also absent due to injury is striker Benjamin Šeško. Although he has returned to the squad for training, he can only do individual sessions. The shin injury he sustained at the end of last season has not fully healed. Šeško missed the last three matches of the previous season and withdrew from the national team as a result.

But Manchester United officials stress that both players' injuries are not serious and they are expected to be available for the start of the new season, regaining full fitness. The situation for Dutch center-back Matthijs de Ligt is less clear; he underwent back surgery and may not return until after the season begins.

Additionally, the highly anticipated "little Messi" Gabriel (JJ Gabriel) was left off the list. He will not turn 16 until October, and the club is in no rush to have him play matches. Gabriel has only been back in training for less than a week, which is another important reason why he cannot play.

Manchester United have 13 players who competed in the World Cup and are either still playing or on holiday, so Carrick's squad includes many young players, such as right winger Shea Lacey, left-back Harry Amass, midfielders Jack Fletcher and Jim Thwaites, among others. They all have a chance to show what they can do.

In the right-back position, both Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot are yet to return. British media expect young talent Jaydan Kamason to start. Meanwhile, Šeško's absence gives young forwards Chido Obi and Ethan Wheatley an opportunity to play.

However, young defender Tyler Fredrickson will not take part in the pre-season tour and is expected to leave Manchester United permanently, joining another club. For the 21-year-old English center-back, other European leagues are likely his next destination. He had a chance to move to Celtic in January but was unable to due to injury.

Manchester United also reminded fans that the shirt numbers worn during pre-season friendlies are only temporary and may change before the Premier League season begins.

After this match, United will face Rosenborg in Trondheim, Norway on July 24, Atletico Madrid in Stockholm, Sweden on August 1, Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg, Sweden on August 8, Leeds United in Dublin, Ireland on August 12, and AC Milan in Wrocław, Poland on August 15.

Manchester United's 25-man squad: Tom Heaton, Radek Vitek, Dermot Mee; Luke Shaw, Amass, Harry Maguire, Eden Heaven, Leny Yoro, Kamason, Dan Ammer; Santos, Mason Mount, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Toby Collier, Dan Gore, Jacob Devaney, Thwaites; Patrick Dorgu, Zirkzee, Obi, Wheatley, Mbeumo, Lacey, Ethan Williams.
