The Spanish head coach is about to finalize the squad for Becamex TP.HCM.

Having trained for nearly two weeks with close to 40 players, Becamex TP.HCM is set to begin filtering its roster for the upcoming 2026-2027 V-League 2 campaign.

According to the plan, following two friendly matches scheduled for July 29 and August 2, head coach Gerard Albadalejo will finalize a list of 26 to 30 players. This will also be the time when the club officially announces its new signings.

In recent days, Becamex TP.HCM has maintained a high training intensity with two sessions per day, combining on-field practice, gym workouts, and recovery. The training program designed by head coach Gerard Albadalejo and his staff has been strictly followed by the entire team to build a solid foundation of fitness and technical skills for the new season.

The competition within the team is fierce. Besides the core from last season, about one-third of the nearly 40 players are trialists. Many players who have competed in the V-League, the First Division, and even represented the Vietnam U23 and national team are all seeking opportunities to be part of the squad aiming for promotion. However, all final decisions rest with head coach Gerard Albadalejo.

The Spanish tactician stated that he will retain 26 to 30 players. This means more than ten names will have to leave the club after over three weeks of trials. Experience and reputation are only part of the evaluation process, as the coaching staff places the highest priority on suitability for the playing philosophy, form, and ability to meet professional requirements.

To complete the selection process, Becamex TP.HCM will play two friendly matches at Binh Duong Stadium, both kicking off at 16:00 on July 29 and August 2. According to coach Gerard Albadalejo, the team needs to test themselves against opponents of similar or higher levels to assess each player's capabilities.

In the first match on July 29, Becamex TP.HCM will face Club Kharkiv, a grassroots team that gathers many former professional players such as Đoàn Việt Cường, Hoàng Danh Ngọc, Lê Đức Tài, Trần Minh Lợi, Nguyễn Anh Tài, goalkeeper Trần Bửu Ngọc, Nguyễn Công Thành, and Nguyễn Mạnh Huy. Four days later, the team will take on Van Hien University, which finished seventh in the V-League 2 last season under the guidance of coach Hoàng Hải Dương.

After these two test matches, head coach Gerard Albadalejo will finalize the squad to move into the team-building phase.

In August, Becamex TP.HCM is expected to play an additional four to five friendly matches before registering the official squad for the 2026-2027 V-League 2 season, with the goal of competing for promotion.
