A reporter from Vietnam News Agency in Europe, citing the French sports newspaper L'Équipe, noted that both teams adhere to a possession-based philosophy. Statistics from the round of 16 onward show Spain has the highest average ball possession at 63.9%, with Argentina close behind at 60.7%. The two sides also lead in number of passes, time on the ball, and passing accuracy in the opponent's final third.

Ball possession is the foundation of both teams' playstyles, but applied in different ways. Spain uses the ball to maintain team shape, press immediately after losing it, and apply constant pressure on the opponent. Argentina, on the other hand, prioritizes controlling the tempo of the match, creating conditions for Lionel Messi to orchestrate play and produce moments of brilliance. Experts believe the battle in midfield will be decisive. Spain's midfield trio of Rodri, Dani Olmo, supported by attacking players, has been key to their run to the final. Meanwhile, coach Lionel Scaloni will likely consider using three or four central midfielders to limit the opponent's space.

According to L'Équipe, Spain may dominate in terms of possession time. However, Argentina's short-passing style, fluid movement, and constant creation of passing options around the ball carrier pose the biggest challenge to Spain's defense so far in the tournament.

Beyond tactical factors, Argentina's composure in decisive moments is also considered an advantage. On their path to the final, the South American side has scored several crucial goals in stoppage time or extra time against Cape Verde, Egypt, Switzerland, and England, demonstrating their ability to maintain intensity and focus until the final minutes.

If Argentina is forced to increase pressure in the latter stages of the match, Spain's defense will face a major challenge. The Spanish side has conceded only one goal in seven matches in the tournament. However, just one moment of Messi's brilliance or a set-piece situation could completely change the game's outcome.

Overall, the final is expected to be a contest between two of the top possession-based teams at the 2026 World Cup. In a likely tight and balanced match, the difference could come from midfield dominance, tactical adjustments by the coaching staff, or individual brilliance. These are seen as the factors that will determine which team lifts the 2026 World Cup trophy.
