The Police team possesses a powerful trio of overseas Vietnamese players in the V.League 2026/27 season.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police team is assembling a talented young overseas Vietnamese trio, spread across defense, midfield, and attack, poised to leave a unique impression in the 2026/27 V.League.

The recruitment of Lenn Minh-Tran from MVV Maastricht helps Công An TP.HCM form a special group of overseas Vietnamese players consisting of Khoa Ngô, Lenn Minh-Tran, and Lee Williams. All three were born in 2006 or later and grew up in Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and England. More importantly, they are spread across positions from defense to attack, creating a rare young overseas Vietnamese core in the V.League.

Lenn Minh-Tran, born in 2007, stands at 1.69m and specializes as a right-back, also capable of playing higher up the wing. Developed at the KRC Genk academy, the player of Vietnamese-Belgian descent just completed his first professional season in the Dutch second division. He played 32 matches in the Eerste Divisie, starting 27 times, accumulating 2,370 minutes, and contributing one assist; including the Dutch Cup, his total appearances were 33.

MVV Maastricht confirmed that Lenn transferred to Công An TP.HCM after carefully considering the deal's terms. The Dutch club wrote in their farewell announcement: “We are proud that Lenn Minh, shortly after his breakthrough in professional football, can take this beautiful step in his career.” This is a notable addition because Lenn has already been tested in the European professional environment.

Khoa Ngô, born in 2006, stands at 1.65m and can play on both wings. In his first half-season in Vietnam, the Australian-Vietnamese player made 14 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist. His speed, ability to change direction, and always determined spirit help Khoa make a difference despite lacking physical advantages. He once shared: “With a small stature, I have to bring out other qualities to compete. I have worked hard on my fast ball-handling skills and am ready to learn new things.”

The spearhead of the trio is Lee Williams. The striker, born in 2007, boasts an impressive height of 1.90m. Lee closed the 2025/26 season with nine goals and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions, including six goals in the V.League and three in the National Cup. His ability to hold off defenders, burst into speed, and choose positions makes him a different type of center-forward. Lee said: “I am working hard to show the management and coaching staff that I can contribute to the club. I also hope to receive Vietnamese citizenship soon to serve the national teams.”

The greatest value of the trio lies in their complementarity: Lenn brings energy on the right flank, Khoa provides unpredictability on the wing, and Lee becomes the target in the box. This could be a long-term development axis rather than just a publicity recruitment campaign. However, that potential will only be realized when they receive consistent playing time, continue to adapt to tactical demands, and complete the necessary legal procedures. The new season will reveal whether Công An TP.HCM is experiencing a temporary phenomenon or building a foundation for the next generation.
