Cristiano Ronaldo unexpectedly became the subject of jokes during Spain's World Cup title celebration in Madrid.

Spain held a grand celebration in Madrid after defeating Argentina to claim the championship of the 2026 World Cup. The squad led by coach Luis de la Fuente was welcomed by around two million fans in the capital, amid an electrifying atmosphere following their historic achievement.

After meeting with the Spanish royal family and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, the team paraded through the streets of Madrid on an open-top bus emblazoned with the slogan "Stars Shining Together." The final stop was Cibeles Square, where approximately 120,000 supporters gathered to watch the players take the stage for their tribute.

The Spanish players appeared in T-shirts printed with the words "Somos Campeones," meaning "We Are Champions." However, alongside the celebratory moments, a video from the ceremony quickly went viral on social media due to its reference to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The incident occurred when host Raul Ramos introduced Yeremy Pino. In his energetic introduction, Ramos made a joking remark about Ronaldo that drew attention: "In Lomo del Chentchi, people often call Pino 'Cristiano Ronaldo.' The only difference? Pino has a World Cup trophy."

This comment made many in the audience laugh, while the co-host also seemed amused. However, for Ronaldo's fans, it was a rather sensitive moment, as the Portuguese superstar had just experienced his final World Cup without getting his hands on the golden trophy.

Portugal, led by Ronaldo, was eliminated by none other than Spain in the round of 16. That match was decided by a single goal from Mikel Merino in second-half stoppage time. After the defeat, an emotional Ronaldo confirmed that this was his final appearance at a World Cup.

He shared: "I am very sad to leave the World Cup like this. As I said yesterday, I gave my all and leave with a clear conscience."

Ronaldo added: "Yes, it is my last World Cup. But as for the rest, I need time to think, to be with my family, and not to say anything rash."
