Manchester United are ready to arrange reconciliation talks between Marcus Rashford and manager Ruben Amorim when he returns to the club this summer. The 27-year-old England star is currently on loan at Aston Villa in the Premier League, who has a £40million buy-out clause, but it is still unclear whether he will use it.
Although Rashford's agent has recently concocted rumours to negotiate a transfer with Paris Saint-Germain again, a cruel fact is that Asensio, who Villa loaned from Paris at the same time, has performed far better than Manchester United's demon star. After the 3-1 win over Villa in the Champions League in midweek, the French media only gave Rashford a low score of three points, and did not approve of him.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes Rashford's performances at Villa are not up to the mark. 'I don't know if Rashford is Villa's answer, they were 2-0 up against Forest, Marcus Rashford came off the bench and Unai Emery was definitely going to play his counter-attacking threat. However, on several occasions he was reluctant to fight for the header and did not want to engage in physical confrontation, so the ball was handed over to the opponent."
The same is true for Barcelona, with Flick having Raphinha and Yamal in their squad, and Rashford, if he can join, will only be a substitute. So, Villa are a real real home for Marcus Rashford's permanent transfer, but the situation is not ideal and Unai Emery's side are in danger of missing out on next season's Champions League. They are on the back foot in the race for top five in the Premier League, while they are on the verge of being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Should Villa fail to qualify for the Champions League, the £40 million transfer fee to be paid to Manchester United and Marcus Rashford's £325,000 weekly salary will be obstacles to buyout. As a result, the British "Daily Star" said that the Red Devils were prepared for the worst in advance, hoping to arrange a meeting between Amorim and Rashford before this summer's pre-season training camp in the United States to close the rift between the two.
United made a similar move before the start of the season, allowing former managers Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho to reconcile temporarily, and the 25-year-old England winger was eventually loaned out to Chelsea. Ironically, Jadon Sancho could also be returned to Carrington again this summer by the Blues for £5 million.
Villa boss Unai Emery and the club are both interested in buying Rashford, but may not be able to activate the £40million buyout option and will need to convince the player to agree to a pay cut. This means the team may be looking to negotiate with Manchester United to reduce the amount of the transfer fee.
Marcus Rashford's loan deal with Villa expires on 30 June, meaning he will not be involved in United's confirmed post-season trip to Asia. However, if he can't complete the transfer by July, he will have to return to the team for pre-season training camps.
Boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants Marcus Rashford and Amorim to resolve their differences this season. The United boss accused Marcus Rashford of his poor training attitude before the player publicly announced that he was looking for a new challenge. When asked about Rashford in recent weeks, Amorim refused to talk about him, insisting he was only focusing on the players in his squad at the moment. But the 40-year-old Portuguese boss has previously hinted that Rashford could become a top player if he changes his mentality.
Amorim said: 'I know Marcus Rashford very well and everyone knows his talent. He's a top player, if he wants to be. So I'm not surprised. It's a good thing that we've seen our players perform well in different circumstances."
