Italy transfer expert Fabrizio · Romano has revealed that one of United's current outcasts is in no hurry to leave, preferring to sit and wait for his contract to expire unless there is a "very good opportunity", when there will be a wider range of options. This is the 30-year-old "Sweden Iceman" LindelofNail householdHis wife joked that after her left leg was injured, she was doing everything on crutches every day in slow motion, a description that also fits his future.
Victor Lindelof has been a player United want to sell this summer, as earlier this year the club activated a one-year extension clause, meaning the Sweden captain is free to negotiate with other overseas clubs from January 2025 and leave for free when his contract expires in July next year.
Manchester United could earn up to £55 million from selling players in the summer window, selling the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason · Greenwood, Willy · Cambuwala and Alvaro · Fernandez. But with the transfer window just less than two weeks away, the sale of Victor Lindelof has reached an impasse.
In the summer transfer market, Lindelof has been linked with a number of clubs, including the Turkish Super League giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. Jose Mourinho, who signed Victor Lindelof from Benfica for £30 million that year, was once intending to work with him again.
However, United's asking price of €12 million and the player's £120,000-a-week salary have become obstacles, and Mourinho has given up. Recently, Fiorentina and Eintracht Frankfurt have also been rumored to be transfers to the "leaky husband".
But Italy transfer expert Fabrizio · Fabrizio Romano explained that as far as he knew, none of those interests were concretized and that Lindelof himself was in no hurry to leave United this summer. Unless a very desirable offer is received, Lindelof will not consider it.
Fabrizio Romano said: "The players and the agent camp always tell me that all these options are not specific or in-depth. Victor Lindelof is in no hurry to leave Manchester United and will only accept a big opportunity to join a big club. In the last two or three years, he has appeared on the lists of Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and several other big clubs."
Fabrizio Romano added: "Six months ago, a year ago, for example, he had a lot of possibilities and United never agreed to let him go. Ten Hag has always wanted him to stay in the team, so now it's Lindelof's turn to take the initiative, with one year left on his contract and he won't accept a contract that he doesn't really want 100 per cent. By January of next year, he is free to sign with any club in the world. That's why Lindelof decided to take his time, he was in no hurry to leave. If there is a good chance, a big club, he will consider it, otherwise I don't think 100 per cent of them will leave Manchester United. This has to be a very good opportunity."
Fabrizio Romano was asked if Lindelof is more likely to leave for free when his contract expires next summer. "I think it's a possibility," he replied, "and I think it's very likely that it will end unless there are big clubs in the last few days."
Once Lindelof remains at Manchester United, United will have six centre-backs of Yoro, De Ligt, Lisandro · Martinez, Harry Maguire, Evans and Lindelof, and Ten Hag will certainly not be able to bring in another new centre-back. The Reds were rumoured to still be looking to sign Everton's Branswaite, but Sweden Iceman's decision would leave Jim · Sir Ratcliffe and INEOS in vain.
