Manchester United missed the Premier League top 10 3-4 and the worst in 51 years! De Ligt was injured again, and Amorim had a catch

Manchester United suffered a 4-3 defeat at Brentford in the Premier League and have been completely out of the top 10 in the Premier League this season. The Red Devils have a goal difference of 9 points from 39 points in 35 games, which is certainly not enough to catch up with 11th-placed Fulham (51 points). Ruben Amorim's side could theoretically surpass 45-point Crystal Palace to finish 12th, but with West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa all up to fight for five Champions League titles, the Reds could end up in 13th or 17th place.

If United are certain to lose this week against a team wearing red and white shirts, then everyone will choose Brentford. Amorim fielded the third-youngest starting line-up in the club's history, with centre-forward Cheeto Obi, centre-back Taylor Frederiksen and left-back Harry Armas all in the squad, all under the age of 20, with Obi even 17 years old.

Obi is United's youngest starter in the Premier League and it is not for nothing that he waited a full three months to start after making his debut against Tottenham. His body is a "monster" in youth team play, but in front of Brentford's three-man defence, he looks like a maldeveloped child.

But United scored first. In front of England boss Thomas Tuchel in the stands, Mason Mount showed something for a long time, Garnacho sent a direct cross down the left and the £60million midfielder scrambled forward to push it into the net to give United a 1-0 lead over Brentford. Interestingly, Mount's two Premier League goals for Manchester United were both against the 'Little Bees'.

However, Brentford are still in contention for a European spot, and their fighting spirit is far better than Manchester United, who have run out of desire in the Premier League and are destined to have the worst record in the club's history. Luke Shaw, who captained United for the first time, attacked his own substitute goalkeeper Altay Baindir twice in a row, and the second time he finally got away with Mikel Damsgaard's cross into the near corner to make it 1-1 leveller.

Brentford continued to attack with the simplest of crosses, and De Ligt went down injured, but the game continued, Nelgaard linked up with his team-mate on the right and crossed from the bottom line, Kevin Shad nodded in to end the first half with the home side 2-1 over Manchester United.

The situation remained the same in the second half, with Brentford's cross continuing to sound the air alarm in the United defence. Mbeumo's left-footed cross from the right was met by Schad's header to give Brentford 3-1 to Manchester United.

Only 3 minutes later, Brentford successfully countered offside, and Savi "ate cake" and pushed the empty goal, and Brentford led Manchester United 4-1.

In the final moments of the game, taking advantage of Brentford's slackening mentality to take a big lead, United controlled the game with the individual quality of their players. Garnacho scored a powerful shot to close the gap 4-2.

In stoppage time, substitute Amad Diallo also cut inside to make it 3-4 and at least save face for the Reds. It was the first goal of the €40 million winger since returning from injury and his ninth of the season.

The defeat sealed the bottom half of the table for the first time in 35 years and suffered the most league defeats, with a winless run of six Premier League games for the first time since Louis van Gaal took charge in December 2015. The Red Devils are destined to have their worst domestic league result in 51 years since relegation in 1972/73.

However, now fans and Amorim are pinning their hopes on winning the Europa League, and until then, everyone will be lenient towards the team. Just seconds after kick-off, the visiting fans began to chant: "Because in May we will be going to Bilbao for the second time!"

However, with a 15th place in the league, a clean sheet of 10 wins, 9 draws and 16 defeats in 35 games, and a record of 40 points yet to be reached, the brutal statistics remind Amorim that even if he wins the Europa League, he must completely rebuild the team. Otherwise, the current situation of Sevilla, the former "king of the Europa League", is a lesson, and they are currently ranked 15th in La Liga, along with Manchester United.

Amorim was not without success in the league ahead of the second leg of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao, with goals from Garnacho and Ahmad set to motivate them in their quest for the European title.

However, United's defence could be a concern for the 40-year-old Portuguese boss, with Dolgu failing to defend at the back and De Ligt, who had just returned from injury, was replaced again before half-time, limping off after colliding with Mbeumo.

Commenting on De Ligt's injury after the game, Amorim said: "I don't know, the team doctor needs to check it. I hope it's just a minor injury because I'm not only thinking about the game against Bilbao, but also about next year's squad."
