Despite appearing to be outmatched on paper, Iceland actually started off stronger in the first half as Sandra Jessen forced Cecilie Fiskerstrand into a great save early in the match.
They found the breakthrough from the subsequent corner, as Sveindis Jonsdottir opened her country’s scoring account for the tournament, having previously scored in the last encounter between the teams in May.
She quickly capitalized on a rebound from a set-piece to drive the ball into the top of the net, marking the 50th goal of the tournament.
However, the early setback seemed to ignite Norway, who reversed the situation before half-time.
Signe Gaupset sparked the comeback on her first start of the tournament, first volleying Vilde Boe Risa’s cross into the bottom corner, before a low shot from the edge of the area found its way into the net.
Risa also assisted Gaupset that time, recording her third assist of the tournament, which places her level with England’s Alessia Russo at the top of that specific chart.

Norway maintained their momentum after the break, quickly extending their lead in the second half.
Gaupset turned provider this time, executing a clever one-two with Frida Maanum before the Arsenal midfielder struck her first international goal since December.
Iceland showed little sign of recovery, with Jonsdottir remaining their most significant threat as she shot just over.
The same combination for Norway’s third goal nearly added a fourth when Gaupset set up Maanum again, only to be thwarted by Cecilia Runarsdottir.
The Norwegians kept pressing with the same two players, and it continued to yield results as Gaupset assisted Maanum once more, with the latter scoring from the edge of the box.
Iceland managed to grab a consolation goal late in the game through Hlin Eiriksdottir, who swept Jonsdottir’s cross into the top corner, before Glodis Viggsodottir converted a stoppage-time penalty, awarded after a red card for Marit Lund for fouling Eiriksdottir.

While it was a commendable effort, that comeback was too late as Iceland's winless streak at the Euros finals extended to nine matches, resulting in a third consecutive exit from the group stage, while Norway advances to the knockout rounds, where they are likely to face Italy in the quarter-finals.
