Al Hilal wrapped up the recent Saudi Pro League season in second place, behind the champions Al Ittihad in late May, after being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the King's Cup and the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.
The club based in Riyadh then traveled to the United States, where they commenced their Club World Cup journey on June 18 against the giants Real Madrid.
They reached the knockout rounds, where they shocked Manchester City in the round of 16 before being defeated by Fluminense in the quarter-finals on July 4.
The Saudi Super Cup is set to take place from August 19-23 in Hong Kong, with the league season typically starting in late August.
Their CWC campaign and subsequent travel issues "shortened the players' annual leave to just 24 days in case of withdrawal, and to 21 days if the club took part in the Super Cup," with the regulations allowing them "a minimum of 28 days of annual leave," the club stated.
Al Hilal had to delay their pre-season training, "which further exacerbated the competitive imbalance among the clubs involved," the statement noted, referencing a letter sent to the local football federation.
In response, the Saudi federation (SAFF) stated they "will initiate the necessary actions in line with the applicable rules and regulations through the relevant committees," without elaborating further.
